Re: Positives of this Game

[QUOTE=Gtothearry;588687]1. O-line played well
2. Several passes completed for 15+ yards
3. Receivers ran routes past the 1st down marker on 3rd downs.
(remember how many routes were ran last year a yard short of the 1st down)
4. The D-fense actually produced some to's.
5. There was actually pressure put on an opposing QB
6. The run was kept in check
7. Goal line stands
8. Suisham is 1-1
9. Offense produced points and did move the ball against a great D......(remember the offense should get better...were one year into this offense)
10. Zorn's play calling was better ( at least we aren't as predictable as we were last year)
11. Despite all that went wrong the players didn't give up and still had a chance towards the end.

Honestly, I was pissed off during the game as many of u all were im sure. However, once I reflected on the game I have a decent feel of where this team is headed. I really think by week 6 this team will be a good team and if we don't play down to our opponents level we should be in good shape. The only ? marks for me is dumb penalites which can be fixed and also our DB's---------(which cant be fixed).......[/QUOT

For Jason to make the transition to franchise QB, and start winning games consistently, he needs to learn to find a defenses weakness, recognize it at the line of scrimmage, audible (if needed) and attack the weakness. Brady does it, Manning does it, Brees does it....

Maybe with a little more comfort in the system, and the next few weaker opponents, he can turn it on.
I think Jason is more concerned to not throw a pick which hinders him from attacking the defense. Great QB's ( Farve) are not afraid to take chances with the ball and just let it rip. I guess its easy said when the FO doesnt have confidence in you in the 1st place. Brett Farve has thrown more picks than anyothet QB in history. To be great you can't be afraid to fail. Jason trust in your arm and don't be afraid to make a mistake its going to happen if you play QB in the NFL. Just ask Jay Cutler and Jake Delhomme.

The Positives of the game
1.The Redskins never quit
2. No major injuries.
3. The Defense had a goal line stand
4. London Fletcher has not slowed down yet.
5. ARE had his best game as a Redskins WR and may makean impact in the slot.
6. The Defense only surrendered 16 points to the G-mens offense.
7. The Defense forced 2 turnovers.
8. Cooley had a TD and was a factor in the passing game.
9. Special teams overall played well not given up a return for a TD or missed FG.
10. JC played well against a great pass rush and a average O-Line.
11. Albert H. had a nice game and he isn't in game shape yet. His presense will be felt this season.
12. Horton is not a 1 season wonder, the kid can play.
13. Orakpo got his feet wet and did not make any major mistakes.
14. Mcnabb may miss a few games.
15. This maybe our last game in giants stadium. New stadium next year our fortune will change.
16. Heyer played better this game in pass protection.
17. Rogers played the entire game, but he did drop a sure pick early in the 1st qt.

I've come to grips with Rogers' ability to drop interceptions and instead to look at each dropped pick as a broken pass. So the way I see it is this: not ony did Rogers play the entire game, and do so fairly well, but he also broke up a pass in the first quarter.

It didn't take me but 2 series to figure out that we would need to get Portis the ball behind the D-line some how cause he was not going to run through them. He had only 2 good runs. 17 points. Please. All last yr we scored less then 20 points and yet again with all the weapons supposedly at our disposal we still can't get over the hump.

I'll agree the fake Kick was a thing of beauty but it's pretty bad we had to resort to it. Every time we got into the red zone I kept saying Here's Cooley's chance...oh wait it's a run. Here's Kelly's chance....oh wait its a run. Here's Mitchell's chance do to his height....oh wait its a run.

I'm glad your over it. I think by Wed. I might be over it. See for me It seems like this town is totally different after a loss and I'm sure I'll feel it for a couple of more days. Not to mention having a family member who is a Dallas fan saying ...."Oh did the Skins lose? Sorry."
Just remind them that we weren't playing Tampa Bay.

Re: Positives of this Game

As the bitter disappointment of high expectations being summarily chopblocked by the actual game fades and reality sets in, I would like to say, that even with the Skins playing an uninspired performance against a team they haven't beaten in 2 1/2 years, we were within one score at the very end. We were not playing a bad team, and we hung in and clawed back into it. We did not give up 27 points to last year's 0-16 team (no we gave up 16 offensive points to last years NFC East champs). We did not give up 450 yards to a mediocre offense(No, and we held their all powerful back to 60 yards or so) Did we fail to score(no we scored 17 points against a team that allowed the 5th fewest points last year). Was it a bitter defeat, absolutely, but what defeat isn't bitter. What loss can't you say, if only xxx. In all the Skins came out, were defeated by a solid veteran club that for many years has had our number. We will do better this week!

Re: Positives of this Game

Thats a great perspective CRedskinsRule. It hurts to lose any game but we got to put it behind us and get ready for the next game and take it out on them. We do get a chance to play the Giants at Home again. If we split it won't hurt as much.

Delhomme is probably a bad example. The guy has 11 turnovers in his last 2 games. He's going to be riding the pine sooner rather than later if that keeps up.

Re: Positives of this Game

2 days later there is still plenty I am concerned about but I am looking forward to seeing our defense and offense against a team they are probably better than. I'd like to see a thorough ass-whipping on Sunday to dispel a lot of the doubts that surfaced vs. the Giants.

What happens if they squeak by the Rams? Suppose it's another lackluster offensive effort?

I'm not sure about the viability of "another" lackluster effort. We played great situational football on Sunday, and were just beaten on a play-to-play basis by what most think is a better team.

The Rams team we saw last year was good enough to beat the Cowboys the next week, and nearly beat the Patriots the week after. It's imperative to point out that the Rams team that was around for three weeks last year is capable of rearing it's head again. In that case, any team would be lucky to squeak by that team.

If on the other hand, we see the Rams of last week, or most of last season, we'll probably win by three TDs. Our level of play is pretty consistent compared to other teams in the league.

Re: Positives of this Game

With the exception of a few cornerbacks we played very physical football!

That is one thing we were built for and if we can keep punishing people good things will happen. There are a few Giants who are out for their next couple of games.
