Can anyone tell me what exactly the hit was, because I didn't see it. And I'm just wondering how it compares to Donovan Darius' clothesline of a couple of weeks ago. Because he was a first time offender and got fined 75K, then shouldn't a four-time offender be fined more?

All this talk about football being a violent sport and fines like this causing a player not to play at full speed and hit people in similar ways as if the fines are a bad thing? Players have to stop leading with the helmet, because it's becoming far more common instead of using the shoulder or heaven forbid their arms. These fines not only are to discourage the use of spearing and launching for the safety of the receivers but also the defensive players as well. If there isn't a change in the way defensive players, someone is going to die sooner than later during a football game. |
