Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
I agree with MattyK -- I think there's a possibility we're stuck with Jason Campbell next year.
Think about it - we can only have one first round pick (unless we trade for more). What would a great QB going do with our crappy O-line? Even Peyton and Brady suck when their lines break down. It may be better to sign JC for a one year extension (who else would sign him) and draft a good LT first round. Then we need a RT, C, RB. We may also need an OLB, DT, RG, MLB. There are just too many holes -- and I think JC will never take us anywhere, but he's decent enough to combat for one more year. Our offensive line is a MUCH bigger priority. You fix the line and we may suddenly have an offense. Maybe Portis will get positive yards if he gets actually gets blocks. |

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
Campbell is going to be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in 2010... mark my words now.
a.) Why would he WANT to resign with us? b.) SOMEBODY (Cleveland, Carolina, Oakland, etc.) will still see his potential as a starter. He will sign somewhere else and get as far from this freak show as possible. You think, after what Snyder put him through last offseason he'd pick us over someone else?? Matter of fact... do think Snyder would allow Campbell to be our QB next year?? It is obvious... Campbell will NOT be a Redskin in fall 2010.

Again, if there's no cap next year potential free agents won't become free agents until 2011.

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
To tell you the truth, and in my mind, this scenario is VERY possible, if the Front office is serious about getting better and wiping the slate clean, here is what I think we should do, as of now. Now everything in CFB changes day to day and week to week considering injuries, but barring injuries and complete meltdowns, I say these moves would instantly make us a MUCH better squad, especially with our defense and a dedicated new Head Coach.
Ok, we need to trade away ARE, Campbell, Portis and Betts. Somewhere in there, lets get another 2nd round pick, maybe 2 if we are lucky. 1st round - Get THE BEST offensive lineman available. It definitely looks like we are in the market for a top 8 pick, so I would go with 1 of 2 guys that look absolutely incredible and could contribute in a big way from day 1. Okung from Ok. State, or Brown out of USC. Both are great OL and both can play multiple positions, which I think will be big with our line for a year or two to come. Remember, these selections are with the assumption we have 2 2nd round picks. first 2nd round pick - Tony Pike QB, Cincy If we can pack about 15 - 20 lbs onto his 6'5'' frame, with his vision and arm, aaron rodgers anyone?? HUGE UPGRADE WITH PRO BOWLER POTENTIAL. 2nd 2nd rounder - Best Offensive lineman available. If Chris Samuels comes back, I say go with a good talent at guard like Asamoah or Capers. Keep our current Center, Levi Jones, and Dockery. Sign the VERY best tackle you can in the offseason (easy, especially if its uncapped and we got our ATM at the helm) and cut all of the others, or trade em and pick up some later round picks this year or next. The team needs youth in a big way. Next step - Let Joe Bugel go. Let him resign with class, but we need a new guy to come and fill in that role. Preferably an ex redskin that can instill some pride along our once PROUD OLine. Let them all compete for starting roles, and then BAMM, set your roster before the last 2 preseason games. give em three weeks to know whos gonna be at their 9 and 3 oclocks, and hope for them to come together as a unit quick. Thats asking for alot, but doable, and almost anything we do will be better than this years sad sad mess, plus we'll have youth to build upon and a very promising franchise QB in Pike. Also, with our 4th or 5th rounder, I bet we could steal someone that I really like thats been flying under the radar this season that is a BEAST and could kick some major ass in the NFL. And that guy is Chris Scott out of Tennesee. Remember that name. We could easily get him in the 4th round, no problem. Guy is very quick on his feet, and already has incredible strength. (348 lbs last week). Go Skins |

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
Are you saying they'll be stuck with their current teams?
Even if so, I'd be shocked if Campbell wasn't traded in the offseason. The Browns wanted him and Cooley for their draft pick earlier this year. Add in Carolina, Oakland, Tennessee... someone I think would make a move for him and I think Snyder would jump on it.

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
Tony Pike and Colt McCoy are both very good prospects who might get dwarfed by some of the bigger names in the draft. In a deeper draft, it is usually better to wait on quarterbacks. Point in case: anyone could have had Vince Young had they been willing to give up two first rounders to move up ahead of the Titans in 2006.
He could have been yours! Instead, teams that waited were stuck with Jay Cutler and Matt Leinart.

Re: Your next QB for the Skins?
lol.. Bleacher Report... it was thrown around on a few different places...
and even if it weren't, I HOPE you can just understand the basic message... IMO Campbell will be playing for another team in fall 2010. SOMEONE will make a play for him, for say, a 4th rounder, and Snyder will wash his hands of him... he obviously (and I didn't get this from Bleacher Report) is NOT a fan of Jason's.

I got that sense from Gruden too. Maybe I am reading into too much but Gruden seemed like a guy who was sizing the Skins up in general. I also agree with you, Campbell's fate may come down to who the HC is and whether or not the Skins wake up and address the O line.
