Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
The worst thing about us going 2-14 this year is the fact that we're going 2-14 before we blow everything up and bring in new management, coaches, players...etc. So, after reading Smootsmack's thread on "Getting to know the Redskins' Front Office" I imagine that once we do blow up everything, we might as well expect another few win season next year unless the stars happen to align just nicely for us. I don't mind a 2-14 season when it's because the team is young and still trying to build and grow.
I just imagine despite whatever top draft picks we do get, it's going to be a long haul for us to get back to where we're all hoping the Redskins will be in a few years.

The franchise has never lost more than 12 games in a single season. Worst season record was 1-12-1 in '61.

At the same time I'm scared that we could end up like the 49ers did under Mike Nolan. During that time they did all the right things including drafting young players, getting rid of Vinny, and cutting aging high priced veterans. Thats why I believe having quality talent elevaluators is easily the most important part of building a team. Cerrato is mediocre at best, sure he can select a few good players, but at the same time he obviously has little idea, if any, as to how to build a team over the long haul opting for a "one player away approach, as I avoid adding quality prospects along the O-Line." Adding Gibbs might be a nice touch but I'm convinced that he's only a great coach. I say this because despite a structure that wasn't the best at selecting talent, he was still able to lead the team to the playoffs twice in two years, and during that last run they seemed poised to take a run at the title, or as my Dad put it "no one wants to play them." Since Gibbs has left the team has lost the discipline and focus it had under his direction, which has resulted in the roster being exposed. If I was in charge I would seriously consider cutting loose many of the high priced veterans during the uncapped year including Portis, Rabach, Griffin, ARE, DeAngelo Hall, I'd also be tempted to cut Andre Carter after this year. Fletcher can't be cut in my view because he's to much of a leader, playmaker, and overall high character player. Haynesworth has simply been dominant and will hopefully last and play hard enough to oversee a rebuilding effort.
