I used to do at my place all the time when I was younger (just kept backing up and hurling it), but that scenario didn't involve nearly as much pressure as what he was under.

I was in junior high, playing in a summer rec. league game, with time running out in the half I made a ridiculous, over my shoulder, falling out of bounds, no look half-court 3-point shot....into the wrong basket!

All I was trying to do was keep the ball in bounds. We ended up losing by 2 points.
