I don't know how Orton is better. His team had a 2nd half of the season collapse just like the Redskins last season (and that's with a solid line and Brandon Marshall). Although, I doubt Orton will be back with Denver next season.

But it's his first year in a new system? If it works for Jason Campbell it can work for Kyle Orton.

Sounds good - - if only it were correct. And it is not...

The Broncos did not trade Jay Cutler for Kyle Orton even up. So, the Bronx did not choose Kyle Orton over Jason Campbell even up.

Go back and look at the trade that made that move happen. I believe the entire transaction was this - - but I may be "misremembering" to use a word coined by Roger Clemens:

Bears get Jay Cutler + fifth round pick.

Broncos get Kyle Orton + TWO first round picks + a third round pick.

Do you know what "other compensation" the Skins offered the Broncos to make that deal over and above Jason Campbell? I do not. RUMOR is that all they would cough up was one first round pick + Campbell and nothing more. But I don't know if that RUMOR is right nor do I know what they may have offered in the deal.

BTW, Jay Cutler will not turn out to be worth what the Bears paid for him in terms of players and draft picks - - unless all of the Broncos picks turn out to be cabbage patch dolls.

Well McD sort of chose Orton over Cutler too.

If that is what you call it and if you ignore all of the rest of the parts of the deal that went down, that is a good indication as to why there aren't a half-dozen NFL teams knocking down your doors to make you their Director of Player Personnel or their GM.

It was NEVER a choice of Cutler/Campbell/Orton. If it were that simple, Danny Boy would have bid higher in terms of money for the three of them and gotten Orotn - - whom the Skins lusted after - - than the notoriously cheap Bears. This was a deal that Danny Boy's money could not make all by itself.

I think there's a difference between trade value and actual value. Based on how he's played and how other teams would perceive him, I think it would be hard to argue that he should fetch a high pick. On the other hand, I believe that if given a good line he would be a serviceable starting QB in the league. So therefore, I both think that he has little-to-no trade value AND would like him to be our starting QB for the next couple years.

Trade value is all about perception. For example, in Week 1 of 2001, you could probably have gotten Tom Brady for a 6th or 7th rounder. Ditto for Tony Romo through 2005. Today, they are both probably untradeable. Exact same QB, vastly different perceptions around the league at those different points in time. Thus, it is perception, not actual talent, that drives trade value.

Who wants to keep him as our starter? If your refering to the Poll on him I think it was kinda skewed the way the question was asked. It simply stated do you want to keep JC. I said yes cause I think we need a viable back up. Collins is too old. Now do you think JC see's himself as a viable back up? No, which is why I think will leave.

The only way I see him staying is if Shanahan tells all the QB's there will be an open camp and whoever takes it is the #1 QB. JC might be interested enought know Shanahan is going to give him a fair shake and want to stay knowing Shanahan is a good HC. But I still think if he (JC) gets the idea he's not going to be the #1 QB he will test the open market to see if he's going to be a #1 elsewhere.
