I'm sure that's what all the big-spenders are going to do this year. then again we could always restructure players to long-term deals.

Everytime I think of Rolle I think of that stupid Tootsie Roll song. Otherwise good player.

Why would signing Peppers stop them from signing Dansby or Dansby and Rolle?

If Allen and Shanahan want all three, we will get all three.

considering the salary cap will come back next year, i dont see how we could have all those guys on the roster, in addition to haynesworth, the #4 overall pick in the draft, and whatever other big contract guys we have on the roster. with a salary cap, you can only afford to have a couple big contracts on the team. otherwise, you end up with a roster that has 4 or 5 complete studs and 50 guys who barely qualify to play in the league. id rather have 1 or two studs and 50 good NFL players. While thats an exaggerated example, you get the point. and that doesnt even begin to address the chemistry problems on the team when you're giving Peppers a "100 million dollar contract" and he's not even trying, while guys making the league minimum are playing their guts out.

I won't be sold on the idea of adding Peppers for reasons already expressed, but a salry cap is somethng that's going to be key in negotiations because many feel it could be gone forever. That's the one key fear, if a season is played without a cap, fear is it won't return again.

i think the fear that the salary cap won't come back is greatly exaggerated. its a scare tactic in my opinion. right now, it makes sense for teams to not have a cap, as a lot of them want to unload dead weight. however, having a salary cap and salary floor is far too beneficial for the league and the players. i would be shocked if the cap didnt return whenever a new CBA is reached.

It's a realistic fear, but if there's a lockout, the easiest way to break it is to sign an extension of the last CBA, though it might not legally be an "extension." So, I think the cap has a great chance to come back since it's been agreed to before.

I do think there's going to be something that totally catches everyone off guard during negotiations. It could be a totally new CBA, or some form of exemption for teams to allow them to keep players they aren't able to now. Don't know what it will be, but I see some other form of change rather than the cap being eliminated.

re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)

When I read this on RI this morning I was immediately worried about what Allen, Shanny & Danny are up to. If we go 3-4, we'll need more LBs but we already have a marquee rusher in Rak, who's not there in coverage yet. The other spot needs to be a real OLB that can drop in coverage some. Peppers has never done that. Not to mention his lack of motivation. I agree w/those that say he'll get paid & fall off at times.

After thinking about it a lil more, this could be a smoke screen to drive the price up for him. Then again, I thought that last year w/AH!

haynesworth is not going to be happy having to play nt. i think he would be sick as a de in a 3-4, maybe picking up mount cody at the top of round 2 to fill the nt spot. and im not convinced about peppers.

if you double AH then your tackles are on an island against Orakpo and Peppers which is scary...especially with a running start.

cody would be a nice pick if he slips to us. it would be interesting to see what falls to us. whoever it is we need a starter (Hell with picking a qb).

No big shocker here.. I don't think he's worth haynesworth money though!

Everytime I think about Haynesworth, I picture him on his back, huffing and puffing like a cheap drunken tart.

He's not going to happy playing the traditional nose role. All signs right now point to him being used as a one gap NT a la Jay Ratliff not a two gap player like Cody or Wilfork.

Still the NFC South is going to be much safer this year for QB's.

Even though I r mus say that the SEC is still more talented then the NFL n dat includes the NFC SOuth right der.

I think Peppers can be as good as he wants to be, the question is, how good does he want to be?
