Re: How About Jermon Bushrod for a Second Rounder
Would we be able to sign him AFTER the draft, and give the Saints our Second Rounder in 2011? I wonder how that would work at that point, does anyone know?
I mean we might not be great next year, but I don't know that we'd have the #4/#36 picks in the 2011 draft... and I dont think we should give up anymore picks seeing as we don't have a third rounder (Which I was OK with the Jarmon thing, so no big deal)...but having just a 1st...then late picks would not be good for a rebuilding team like us...

Re: How About Jermon Bushrod for a Second Rounder
ok I got another LT for a second rounder.. Charlie Johnson, Left Tackle of the Colts. Never heard of him, but if he started at LT for the Colts. He must be good.

Re: How About Jermon Bushrod for a Second Rounder
There will be value in the second round if we're looking at acquiring another lineman at that spot. Allen won't be long on trading away draft choices when we could get value where we are and wouldn't have to surrender a draft pick for another teams player. The days of trading away draft pick could be history.

Elite-tier starting LTs can be had for 1st round picks or more. Anything less and you are NOT getting enough bang for the buck at one of the most important positions on the offense.
If there isn't one, I'd take a gamble on the finding the next Jon Jansen or equivalent starter. |

Re: How About Jermon Bushrod for a Second Rounder
Any player with less than a first round tender, or at left tackle, less than a first and third round tender, isn't really highly regarded by their team, or by the league. So essentially, you'd be paying a second round pick for what amounts to a scouting find.

Re: How About Jermon Bushrod for a Second Rounder
So much about 2011 is still uncertain yet, and a 2nd round tender for Bushrod would not be conditional unless a deal was consumated to that effect. Anything less than an arranged agreement would require a 2nd rounder in the 2010 draft. If it's linemen we'll be lookinfg for in 2011 there may be a better player than Bushrod available to us at that time. I've just never been one in favor of trading away draft picks, they're the closest thing to gold in today's NFL.

Reference: Compensation RFA Tenders A restricted free agent can negotiate with any club through a certain date. If the RFA accepts an offer sheet from a new club, his old club has a "right of first refusal"...a seven day period in which it may match the offer and retain him, or choose not to match the offer in which case it may recieve one or more draft picks "from the upcoming draft" from the players new club. If an offer sheet is not executed the players rights revert back to his old club the day after negotiations must end. That does not mean that a deal cannot be consumated requiring any combination of players in exchange, but such deal must be worked out in advance between the two parties. |

Matty is right, it is almost the same with Qbs in this draft, linemen are rather plentiful on both sides of the ball.

Re: How About Jermon Bushrod for a Second Rounder
No, he's good because of Peyton knowing when to get rid of the ball, making his line look better than what it is. I think that he'd be decent with us at RT but definitely not at LT.
