Well we did have two young...and cheap running backs: Quinton Ganther and Marcus Mason. They simply weren't that impressive. I'd rather they be young, cheap, and good. And we released two 30 year old backs in exchange for a much better option at the same position, Larry Johnson.
Now if you just flat out don't like LJ for whatever reason(s), that's okay too. But I think the price was right and you get a proven running back that doesn't have as much mileage as some pretend.
Bottom line, singing Larry Johnson shouldn't be viewed as neither a long term
commitment or a long term
solution at running back. I trust the front office on this one.
