Injuries have completely killed the O's this year. Captain Roberts hasn't played since April 9th (if he ever plays again), 2 closers land on the DL along with an up and coming outfielder and 2 middle relievers. With starters only going 5-6 innings these days, your bullpen has to be money, and the O's have had no consistency from the pen. Trembley never stood a chance, especially getting over the hill guys like Tejada and Atkins to fill spots they've never played before.

As to the injuries, they've been bad, but it also doesn't help that the kids aren't hitting. Markakis, Jones, Weiters, Reimold, I excpected them to have pretty solid offensive seasons and the only one who has been passable to this point is Kakes. Beyond that, Tejada is okay, he's just not hitting and his D at 3rd isn't too bad. Atkins is a disaster, but he was worth a risk. I'd rather take a flyer on a Garrett Atkins then sign a known quantity like LaRoche and still lose just as many games because he's not a good ballplayer. All in all, this team needs to have the young core step up and deliver or Andy MacPhail's plan will never work. |

2 days ago my boss said he was getting 2 nats tickets for strausbergs opener from the lerner family. i didnt really believe him, the man will exagerate a good bit. a rep came in the other day and gave us nats tickets but they are in august. i thought maybe thats what he was reffering to. low and behold, i come in from a smoke break 10 mins ago and theres this sharp dressed guy from the lerners in our front office with 2 tickets in his hand. i said i was an Os fan and he told me to get out of my office! he was kinda serious. anyways, the 2 tickets are for sale if he can get good money for them. they probably are great seats since they are directly from the lerner family even though tickets to this game are hard to get. ill check them out after he leaves and see where they are. anyone interested PM me.

Joe West's fat ass needs to be kicked out of baseball. He just reversed a call on a play that happened at 3rd even though he's on 1st tonight, then he tossed Ian Desmond for arguing about a half second later.

Yeah that was a bunch of BS. I have the whole thing on film too, recorded it all. Desmond clearly looked safe from where I was and the replay, yet then they over turn it, such a Fing joke.

Honestly it looked to me like he was out, but as we learned this week, shit happens and the umps make mistakes and you just have to live with them. But for West to waddle his fat ass across the field and overturn the call when he had NO angle is ridiculous. And then to add insult to injury by ejecting Desmond so quickly for getting pissed is unbelievable. I really hope Selig takes all this crap into consideration and cans West.

This umping crew is absolutely ridiculous. Desmond blocking the runner? How so? Then they toss Riggleman for having a vaild point, what a joke.

I am disgusted with Major League Baseball and the commissioner, it disgust me that this is "Americas Sport" or whatever the hell they call it, such a disgrace to all sports. I almost don't miss not having a team in D.C.

So Desmond gets tossed out for dropping his helmet in front of Joe West and then this fucking guy bulldozes Neives (no problem), but then stomps his foot and starts pumping his chest. Are you kidding me, what kind of sportsmanship is that?

I liked that Batista hit the guy who celebrated in front of Nieves when he came up to bat later.

I popped the Nats game on for a bit last night. I did see Desmond's obstruction call and at regular speed, I thought the umpire made the right call. When they slowed it down, you can see that Desmond was out of the way, and the runner made no contact that would have impeded his progress. And I must have flipped back before seeing Riggleman get tossed or he had virtually no reaction.

I have no problem with Phillips thumping his chest because I know if that happens to me or my team, karma is a bitch and he'll get his. If I'm Burnett, I would have put my next pitch in Scott Rolen's earhole. Nice to see Batista did take up for Nieves later.

Glad the Nats tied the game, Capps is done with me, I've lost respect for him, when he doesn't get a call (whether he should or not) he gives the batter a ball to crush and it's just plain stupid.

These umps are a joke though, how the hell do you not see the bat go a foot over home plater, honestly. The MLB is hiring complete idiots and is ruining the sport. Drew Storen as closing pitcher now please?

I really wish we would just cut Nyjer Morgan and bring up Maxwell for good. Maxwell may not be as fast (still is fast though), but he's a hell of a lot smarter than Morgan is and can hit twice as good.

Also wish we'd get rid of Lannan, kid is pure trash, hasn't amounted to anything since he's been here except for maybe 3-5 good games a season.
