The last Shrek, and UP both were excellent in 3d, and used the full palette of space available. Avatar really just scratched the surface of a what a true 3D movie can do.

Does anyone long for black and white TV (on a constant basis)?
I kind of agree there. I mean the first 3D movie I saw was Alice in Wonderland. We were just going to see it because we were with the wife's family in Florida and wanted something to do. Honestly, the 3D-ness of that movie made it worthwhile to me.

Now there are obviously movies that have lots of crap flying around just to be like "THIS IS 3DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD". But when it's done well, it's REALLY amazing.
