Re: Texans Tape Review -- This time I make you click the links
Really really good stuff. I think this was the best breakdown Ive read by you. Nice work. Good info on the routes against our D and the conformation of what I thought happened on the last play with Reed in our scheme.
Why do you think our running game is not effective. Backs, Line, Coaching?

It's hard to blame the coaching. You can get into a big philosophical chicken/egg argument about whether the running game cant get on track because we don't trust it, or whether we don't trust it because it's a complete waste. But we couldn't run the ball last year and we can't do it this year, and outside of about 7 games in 2008, we couldn't run it then or in 2007 -- well, we haven't been able to run the ball for quite some time. I think we'll improve just because we removed Larry Johnson from the equation, but Portis is still a player who is primarily a pass protector. If we continue to feature him, the running game isn't ever going to be a major factor. There are few seams in the defense, and Portis doesn't really see them when they are there. That's the backs and the line, and then the coaching is just reacting to those results, IMO.
