I maybe saw the Beasties last live performance at Bonaroo music fes 2009 because of Adam Yauch throat concert. Hope he pulls through.

Paul's boutique is one of the greatest albums ever.

As far as hip-hop goes, it's got it all.

The intial standout tracks like Hey Ladies, Shake your Rump, Shadrach are obvious...but the meat and potatoes of the album are 3-Minute Rule, Car Thief, Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun, and the incredible 12 minute mix at the end...those tracks sets the drug-induced, experimental, retro-but ahead of time vibe that no other album has...perfect timing when release, right before hip hop exploded and the punk/grunge scene did the same.

Paul's Boutique - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I like the quote by Chuck D of Public Enemy half way down..."it was known to have the best beats at the time of release in the hip-hop community." Thats saying alot, Dust Brothers did an incredible job. The album too just has that urban feel to it...retro, dirty funk... very NYC or Los Angeles feel

An entire class should be devoted to breaking down Paul's boutique... just listen to Shadrach, and read through the depth of it from the lyrics, beats, samples, etc...

it's more than meets the eye.

The Beastie could rock it out too on some serious jams...this one came up on the ipod today and just had to go back and take a look on youtube:

Especially nice they pay a little homage to Pink Floyd live at Pompeii Echos style
