Williams was going to return regardless of CP's status...like Banks, I think he was just a weekly roster shuffle, not a permanent cut, so I wouldn't read into CP's season status too much with a practice squad signing...James is just replacing Keiland's PS RB spot.

Portis 4-6 confirmed.

Twitter / Ryan O'Halloran: Portis out 4-6 weeks says ...

Shame, he was running VERY well...looked rejuvenated.

Who did they cut to make room for Williams in the roster? Will they IR Portis?

Lastly, a third-degree groin pull is represented by many ruptured muscle fibres, severely stretched tendons, and perhaps separation of a tendon from either its muscle or bony attachment. Symptoms can persist for six to eight weeks - or even longer.

My money is CP is done this year and with the Skins.

Simpson #2? Wow.

Why not Keiland? I think he's proven himself.

We've gone from Portis, Johnson, and Parker in the preseason to Torain, Simpson, and Williams.

Personally I think he's just saying that because Keiland Williams is on the practice squad right now yet everyone expects he'll be activated for Sunday's game

Very possible. Ryan Grant was IR'ed even though he could have come back midseason or something.

More like performance in the case of LJ and Wille and injury in the case of Portis.

Grant tore an ankle ligament, an injury with a 10-12 week healing process.

Portis has a 4-6 week injury at this point. If he had not been performing well prior to the injury, there could be a reason to IR him, but if we can get 8 games out of him and or even bring him back for a playoff push, we should.

You're probably right at this point, but I also think KW will be the backup.

From the article you posted:

Quote:
Most likely, Ryan Torain will start at running back, and Williams will be elevated to the 53-man roster some time this week (going off the last two weeks’ roster moves, late Friday or Saturday). Chad Simpson, who was added two weeks ago, but was inactive against St. Louis and used only on special teams last week, likely would be the third running back on Sunday.

I think this might be the end of Portis as a Skin, especially if the other guys step and contribute.

Here's to hoping that Torain takes the job and never looks back. But if CP is healthy and ready to come back at some point this year, he will be back in the lineup in some type of role.
