No doubt Hall is a Pro Bowler, as is 98, 30 and 59 imo

Re: Congrats to Deangelo Hall

I didnt get to see the game live, just got finished watching it.I fast forwarded thru a lot of it,but i think it was Halls 2nd int and they immediately went to commercial break and I thought for sure when they came back it would be going to replay and it would be overturned. But the bears didnt even challenge it,it looked like the ball def hit the ground.I havent had time to read thru all the post,so am i alone in thinking this?
But it was still a great game for Hall, props to him

D. Hall should buy a real nice gift for Cutler for single-handedly sending him to the Pro Bowl. I wish we could play the Bears 6 or 7 more times this season.

Re: Congrats to Deangelo Hall

Cutler is alot dumber than I thought he was:

NFL Game Center: Washington Redskins at Chicago Bears - 2010 Week 7
"The idea of avoiding Hall apparently never crept into Cutler's mind. "No," he said. "Not at all. I've played against him before. There's no reason to shy away from him. I mean that's hard for me to say throwing four picks to the guy, but I still think if we had to play him tomorrow, I'd go after him every time."

You are right. I think 95 could be a good player as well if they just played him more. When does he graduate to starter?
I guess Kemo and Golsten are so incredibly good that they can not be taken out. :cheeky-sm

Yeah, Eddie Royal had a really nice first game for a rookie. And Mike Shanahan can say to Hall that he owned him on that day.

That one handed pick was sick! But it really highlights how bad the Bears offensive line is. Hall plays very aggressive, a team with better pass protection probably could have given the QB more time to pump fake and make Hall bite. Then again, not sure Cutler would have even if he had time

Re: Congrats to Deangelo Hall

I was totally against bringing Hall in here in 08, he had a bad history w/his teamates dating back to Va. Tech. He's a Hokie & a Skin so once they signed him I of course want him to play well, and he has seemed to mature a bit.

That was an incredible performance by him yesterday. He was tight in coverage on all of those picks. I hope this really improves the D overall as coordinators look to avoid him. Carlos has been playing great all year too.

On a side note, when I look at the individual performances on defense, it seems like several guys are having career years, but what's been the problem in giving up so many yards?

Hole in zone type receptions. A lot of throws by quarterbacks are just uncontested throws against where coverage should be, but isn't. It's not a numbers game, we usually have the defense outnumbered both on the pass rush and in coverage, but even if a guy (say, Andre Johnson) runs across the zones of three different players, it's very likely he'll catch a pass without having to go up in traffic.

Also, one fun little fact about Hall's coverage this year: through six games, only 6 passes that targeted him (out of 41 total) fell incomplete. Those four interceptions vs. Chicago very nearly DOUBLED that total of incomplete passes where Hall was the defender.

The biggest reason Hall had been w/o an interception (ignoring Kolb's Hail Mary that should have been knocked to the ground) is because quarterbacks had been picking on him with great precision. Between Romo, Schaub, Bradford, Kolb, Rodgers, and Manning, there just wasn't many passes thrown behind or over receivers that Hall could "go get". With Cutler throwing off his back foot or off balance most of the day, Hall got involved VERY early in the second half, and defensed or intercepted (I think) every pass thrown at him in the second half.

He was the weakpoint of the secondary coming in, and now, it's going to be tougher for coordinators to go after him because he's absolutely going to show up on the film as nosy.

Sammy Baugh was the FIRST to have 4 INTs in a game.

I recall GT, that in your last analysis (Colts) you indicated Hall & Moore bring the same cover skills, that Hall isn't a man cover guy & likes to see the qb. I wasn't referring to Hall as having a career year, though this might turn it around for him.

The soft spots in the zone have seemed too easy to find for opposing qbs. It looked like there was more straight man-man yesterday & the coverage was really good, even when balls were complete. Cutler will throw into tight space, which worked well for us! I look forward to your breakdown of the game.
