Ha!...no, not Cowherd. I honestly have nothing to do with these power polls so I don't get involved in the whole process. But I would say the pro-Dallas bias is a myth. I have evidence to back it up, but it's not info I will share. I would also say you guys don't realize there are many people of influence that work on the NFL here that are Skins fans (and Eagles, cowboys, Broncos, Falcons fans) but you can't let your fandom get in the way of the truth

Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings

I think Dallas gets so much love because they have names/weapons and you haven't been able to say the same for the other NFC East teams.. I don't get how they're constantly favored to go deep into the playoffs though.

To be fair almost every year at least a couple of the guys at ESPN predict us to turn it around that year.

Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings

Talent is definitely not what keeps Dallas from deep runs in the playoffs, it is coaching. I know Jason Garrett is considered a brilliant offensive mind, but I not sure why they would be so pass oriented in the 2nd half. For team that averaged nearly 5 YPC to only have 21 rushing attempts is just bad game planning.

Having a cupcake coach and lame GM isn't how I would describe the Colts, although I think Polian cried his way to a Bowl by changing the rules. Hockey is a game in which gritty players are a necessity, and there's a great void of grit on the Caps. Actually, I find the Caps to be more like the Cowboys post-Parcells and the Eagles in the previous decade.

Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings

I wonder how these "power rankings" match up with vegas betting odds.
I'd guess that vegas probably has it better since money is involved.

Below are some current odds to win the superbowl (opening odds on left, current on right)
They are ranked in order of current odds.
According to this we'd be 15-16th and the top team is New England and Dallas is still in the top 6...which I dont disagree with...its a 16 game season and they royally screwed up their opener...they could have easily won...we didn't have firepower, but we took advantage of their stupid mistakes.

I know this sounds simple but also note...that teams below us should struggle to beat us and that we should struggle to beat teams above us. I'd say this list is fairly accurate. This does not mean we will be 8-8...we'd need to look at our schedule and see how it lines up. Unfortunately, i believe the majority of our games are against teams ranked higher than us.

New England 17/2 7/1
New Orleans 7/1 8/1
Indianapolis 13/2 8/1
Baltimore 24/1 10/1
Dallas 15/2 10/1
San Diego 17/2 10/1
Minnesota 11/1 12/1
Green Bay 19/2 12/1
N.Y. Giants 15/1 14/1
N.Y. Jets 14/1 14/1
Pittsburgh 12/1 14/1
Tennessee 22/1 20/1
Houston 30/1 20/1
Atlanta 20/1 22/1
Washington 50/1 25/1
Miami 30/1 25/1
Chicago 28/1 30/1
Cincinnati 35/1 30/1
Philadelphia 18/1 35/1
Seattle 80/1 40/1
Jacksonville 45/1 40/1
Denver 45/1 50/1
Arizona 40/1 50/1
San Francisco 45/1 50/1
Carolina 60/1 60/1
Kansas City 125/1 60/1
Cleveland 60/1 80/1
Detroit 80/1 100/1
Oakland 125/1 100/1
Tampa Bay 125/1 100/1
Buffalo 100/1 120/1
St. Louis 150/1 150/1

Re: ESPN week 2 Power Rankings

14 aint bad we're ahead of the Cardinals and besides the early offensive struggles they didn't have too bad of a game. It would suck to win the first game and be 19 but then again they barely beat the Rams

I predict ESPN will still have Dallas ranked higher than us in the Week 3 Power Rankings.

Seriously...Christy got hosed. Some of those ladies ranked ahead of her look like they were hit with a garden hose.

It just seems to me that espn is pro-Dallas everything. Watching espn right now i was told to go check out DALLAS sports, Dallas-Fort Worth sports news - ESPN Dallas for more information on wade getting fired. I was like okay sweet, let me go to espnwashington.com and add myself a bookmark. There is no espnwashington, dc, or any other major city i tried in my 3 or 4 attempts.

You kind of have to think a network with vested interest in Dallas is going to build them up more then they should. Almost everyone player on the cowboys roster is recognizable to me and most other football followers. I was watching the end to the Tampa Bay vs Arizona game last week. Half the players on tampa ive never heard of. My point is Dallas isnt stacked with tons of talent like everyone says, just more recognizable names since they are covered so closely.
