Re: Where has the Redskins' Pass Rush Gone?
Landry is an excellent pass rusher. If he played a 3-4 OLB, he'd be an absolute terror to block. But if Landry plays in the box, not just up on the line but actually in a gap, then you need to play both Doughty and Moore. And that's just not the best use of this team's personnel.
We need a real free safety, badly. It's our biggest defensive need.

...can't help but be sour on this. If Shanny sticks w/ the 3-4 and we do develop into a great defense that way I'll adjust. If Shanny dumps Haslett and the new guy switches back or otherwise takes the group a different direction I'll be effing irate.

Re: Where has the Redskins' Pass Rush Gone?
I was a big proponent on drafting Allen last winter, and I think he's going to haveva strong career. But it isn't really accurate to say we gave them Allen Even though they took him with our pick

Re: Where has the Redskins' Pass Rush Gone?
In the sense that we could have taken someone else with that pick, then yes. But even so, we did give away someone to another team. Taylor Mays to SF, Lamarr Houston to Oakland, etc.

I suppose if you want to look at it that way, doesn't really seem fair though

Re: Where has the Redskins' Pass Rush Gone?
I'm just saying that one of those guys could have been ours, not all of them. However, since no outsiders knows the draft board, the best anyone can do is say there was a say, 1/16 chance Lamarr Houston or the like would have been the Skins' pick.

Reed and Moore and even Horton if he wasn't hurt are good blitzers in their owm right not as dynamic as Landry but still good. If you worried about coverage when a S is pass blitzing drop Landry in coverage and rush with another S. I'm happy with our safeties. Our biggest defensive need? LOLB,NT, 3-4 DE and 3rd CB are imo far bigger needs then S |
