Re: Redskins and McNabb Agree to Contract Extension

McNabb made andy reid look like an absolute genius last night. McNabb quite honestly has played horrible the last 4 games. The extention makes zero sense right now. The more things change the more they look the same with this organization.

I agree. i did not feel that McNabb has played enough to deserve a contract extension. I understand it is about security for the position, but still. DM is not what we envisioned...i think we all figured he would be better than this.

I mean, I think we should. The Eagles are both the better -- and the more fortunate -- team tonight.
It wasn't raining, it was Jack Kent Cooke and Sean Taylor crying from above about this joke of a franchise that Snyder has allowed the Skins to become.

Redskins Insider - Collective bargaining agreement complicates McNabb deal

should be interesting to hear how this deal really breaks down

Tripp this has to be one of the crazist things I've ever heard you say. If anything the rain helps the SLOWER team. Not the faster one. Rain had NOTHING to do with the beatdown last night.

The Eagles are not stupid. They knew. Why did they hang on to Michael Vick and insist on not trading him? I personally think they saw how talented the guy is and decided to really coach him up and see if he would buy in. Once they saw that, they had to reason to keep McNabb. Who would think after this trade we still have the worst QB in the division.

McNabb wasn't responsible for playing defense last night. He threw some picks, but we were getting destroyed, you have to take some chances. I actually have no issue with the way he played last night. Gameplanning however... you give up a 88 yd bomb on the first play of the game... then call three straight interior running plays? Behind the worst interior o-line in the league, after the bye week when you had 2 weeks to get ready? REALLY?

Re: Redskins and McNabb Agree to Contract Extension

The biggest SINGLE reason we lost was not converting a third down in the game. Did convert one fourth down though.

That doesn't mean we would have won if we had an average conversion rate. We obviously would not have. Too much of an offensive onslaught by the Eagles. But the biggest reason the Eagles could score quickly and STILL kill us in time of possession were due to the offensive struggles.

I really don't think they saw this coming though, not to this degree. They were ready to move forward with Kolb as their starter, I think they are genuinely surprised at how quickly Vick has grasped the offense and taken to the coaching they've given him.

Re: Redskins and McNabb Agree to Contract Extension

I'm probably one of the Skins biggest critics on these boards but, McNabb is not the problem with the Skins. Thats just not even realistic at all. Lets keep in mind that Jackson outran our entire D. If McNabb had a receiver like that say T.O., Moss, We may have been able to have a shootout. He also had a rookie unblocking RB to depend on to relive some pressure and the same old O line laying down the red carpet for the D.

He made some very impressive throws last night. We have a lot to be disappointed about but lets keep some things in perspective. Whens the last time this team has seen 28 points? Especially against a team like the Eagles.

The extension was a good move.

*Raises hand* Well, there's always Kitna.

Look, back in April, I thought it would be dumb to suggest that the Eagles would willingly trade McNabb and somehow not have a plan to perform better at quarterback than the guy they traded. It wouldn't have made any sense.

I don't think they were in any way expecting Vick to be that guy, but they of course knew what they were trading us. I think it was the combination of the lack of weapons on the roster that made them feel safe in dealing him here, as well as a declining skill set. I also think the Eagles deserve some credit for not being overconcerned with their record against us this year. McNabb went 1-1 against Vick this year, which considering the talent discrepancy between the teams, has to be a win for the Redskins. But because we're not at this point competitive with the Eagles at the top of the division, I think they deserve credit for not blowing up a home loss to their former QB into something worse than it was.

We beat them fair and square on their home turf. But after beating up on the Colts and us in consecutive weeks, and sporting the best offense in professional football, can anyone still criticize them for trading McNabb when they did? Even though one of their three losses came against him? No, I think they are safe from criticism at this point.

Re: Redskins and McNabb Agree to Contract Extension

And if you think that the original plan for the Eagles at quarterback was flawed, take a look at Kolb's numbers and compare them to McNabb's. They were right on that account as well, and then they certainly appear to have been validated on their decision to move forward with Michael Vick.

It would be crazy to say that McNabb was everything that was wrong the Eagles, and that's a complete sports talk radio argument anyway. McNabb was always good enough for them, at least compared to what he has been here. But it's like the Chargers deciding to not resign Brees: they ended up finding an option better than they could have ever dreamed the original guy becoming. It's good fortune, but also good management.

i'm not really sure how you can say mcnabb is not the problem with the skins. you can say he isn't the only problem but you can not say he isn't one. his completion percentage is garbage and he seems to be throwing more in the dirt this year that he did last year. granted he gives us a better chance to win than with campbell but it's not by much.

and everyone who keeps saying well we scored 28 points when was the last time that happened? when was the last time a team was up on us 28-0 in the first quarter, not shit we are gonna score some points cause they are gonna play soft all game

this game was wayyy uglier than the giants game last year, and to have it done in primetime again is just a huge dagger. last night looked like a legit playoff contender beating the crap out of a bottom feeder, which is where we are right now, it's gonna take some time to turn this around and from all accounts no one evens knows what direction we are headed yet, and thats the scariest part

A slick field definitely benefits Vick. He's tough enough to track down on a dry surface, put him on a slick field where defenders are slipping and can't react quickly enough, advantage Vick.

Re: Redskins and McNabb Agree to Contract Extension

I just think it is hilarious how we spent so much on this guy yesterday and they come out and just lay a huge f--king egg. The sh-t I am taking from other fans today is unreal, the Redskins are f--king awful POS team.

The faces have changed again but the sh-t stays the same.
