I wish they had re-signed Dunn, even for 4 years, but I like this move in that it says to other big name free agents that the team is willing to pay. Hopefully they can get some more FA's to team up with some of the promising younger players and field a competitive team in 2011.

Yeah I pretty much agree with your post. I'd rather have Dunn too, but at least it says to the free agents that the Nats are committed to making the team better. It's like Rizzo said, this is Phase 2 of their plan, Phase 1 was building up the farm system and now Phase 2 is showing free agents around the league that they are committed to winning.
