I don't think he's a top 25 starter in this league, primarily because of his inaccuracy. When you factor in what his financial expectations are, his seeming unwillingness to change/adjust and his propensity for passive aggressive drama, he's going to have very few options. I'd say it would have to be a team with talent everywhere but behind center, with a coach that needs to win now. Who does that leave?

Arizona- Pretty unlikely since Skelton didn't look bad the other night and Whisenhunt has publicly claimed no interest.

Cincinnati- Only makes sense if they let Palmer go and Marvin Lewis stays. I'm guessing TO would need to be out of town as well...

Miami- If Sparano is kept around and doesn't trust his career to Chad Henne, this could make sense. They've got a strong ground game and showed that they are not averse to big money free agents. The owner is also a fame/publicity whore who's having trouble filling seats.

Minnesota- Honestly, they need to get a look at Webb. He could be a diamond in the rough. Failing that, it would depend on the new coach and the offensive system he chooses.

Tennessee- if Young leaves and Fisher stays. Fisher is obviously willing to gamble on past their prime players. (See: Moss, Randy)

The above is, imho, a max list. In actuality, probably only 2 of those teams will have any interest. I think he really hurt himself this year and the past couple with the drama.

McNabb "deserves" to play for a Superbowl contender? Ummmm didnt he play for one for 10 years and couldn't get it done??

I am so sick of athletes signing huge contracts and then complaining about the terms of those contracts.

Yeah, this dude has more apologists than anyone. I don't get it? Why do people rush to his defense like he's the second coming. He's was a slightly above average qb when he was mobile, once that stopped, he has been a below average qb with horrible accuracy. All of those screen plays in Philly with Westbrook taking it for 10-15 yds really helped his completion percentage.

Donovan wanted the $ more than his playing future, it's that simple. He can't complain because he signed that extension. I'm not 100% sure winning a Super Bowl means that much to him honestly.

I wouldnt sleep on Seattle and San Fran. Whitehurst has been horrible and Hasslebeck is done. San Fran will be looking for a fresh face.

I'd take a 3rd for him in about .0001 seconds. Also those teams didnt see him in camp andevery practice like Shanny did.

I used to kind of think the same way, but the last 4-5 yrs in Philly changed my mind w/ DM. He's never been the most accurate guy. He's a big, mobile, shifty QB, who can make big plays for your team if the offense is built around him. Think of the #'s he's put up for many years w/ no weapons aside from Westbrook.

Now you could make the argument that he's on the wrong side of 30 and he's not going to be able to rely on his mobility as he used to, making him an "average" qb. I still think he's got some good years given some playmakers and oline.

He has been nothing but a classy guy his whole career. Maybe a little insecure at times, but nonetheless a good guy, and a great ambassador for the NFL. He has never been a drama queen, he has never been a hold-out, or a negative locker room presence.

I expected him to say something like "I'm dissappointed at how things worked out this year, but I was able to learn a whole lot and i can't wait to work my butt off over the off-season and come in here next year and compete for the starting job". That's what I figured he would say.

Can we really say without a doubt that Donovan is a guaranteed starter SOMEWHERE next year, after his numbers this season? Like someone else said, he is basically a bigger, more athletic Jason Campbell, who is a good guy, but just can't make the offense work.

If anything, Donovan showed this year that while he can still make the occasional big play or 2 during a game, he is an aging QB who is past his prime, and at this stage in his career he can put up mediocre, sometimes solid numbers. He will not lose the game, but when down, he cannot win the game for you. Kind of like JC.

I think Donovan is best served at this point in his career as a primary backup. Kind of like Mark Brunell has done with the Saints, and now Jets. He is a guy who can still play if needed, but his primary job is to be a mentor and good influence to young players.

I think most, if not all, would agree that it's unrealistic for McNabb to expect to be granted his request for a release, but I think it's perfectly reasonable for him to ask for it. This is a business, and he's a veteran player facing the tail end of his career, so why wouldn't he attempt to gain the maximum control over where he ends it? The Redskins have made it relatively clear that they would prefer to be without him but have made a financial commitment to him, so while his release wouldn't be the most ideal scenario for the Redskins, it's not as if there would be no benefit to the team at all. Frankly, it would be dumb for McNabb not to ask for his release.
