2011 NFL Draft Consensus Big Board
Here is some information that I found interesting. It was compiled by Walter Cherepinsky on his site Walterfootball.com.
With Andrew Luck out of the draft, there is no consensus #1 pick at this time. There is also no consensus Top 5. I tend to doubt that there will be a "no brainer" pick for us at #10. Perhaps trading down, if possible, and spreading the risk of making a mistake over more picks would make sense for the Skins because we'll have a lot of holes to fill, even after signing some Free Agents. Walter Cherepinsky: "I thought it would be interesting to combine some of the prominent 2011 NFL Draft Big Boards to form one consensus big board. Below are the average big board positions of the top prospects in the 2011 NFL Draft. I looked at four different big boards: Mel Kiper (ESPN), Todd McShay (ESPN), Rob Rang (CBS) and Scott Wright's (DraftCountdown.com). I also wanted to include Chris Steuber's big board data, but I couldn't find it." Updated Feb. 5 1. Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU: 2.5 High: 1 (Rang); Low: 4 (Kiper) 2. Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn: 2.5 High: 1 (Kiper); Low: 5 (Wright) 3. A.J. Green, WR, Georgia: 3.0 High: 1 (Wright); Low: 4 (Multi) 4. Just get the highest-ranked O-lineman.
11. Nate Solder, OT, Colorado: 13.25 High: 10 (Kiper); Low: 18 (Wright)

Wow...Patrick Peterson has been shooting up the boards lately.
I'd take the guy who's at the #10 spot or Solder would work for me too. I kinda rate our needs even at QB/OL/WR.

It seems to me that if you're going to take a risk at #10, then you should take the risk on a QB because, if he pans out, then the reward is higher at that position. I admit that all of the QB's in this draft scare me a little as Top 10 picks. That's one of the reasons why I would consider trading down, if possible. |

If he fails its more of a high profile fail and sets us back even further than any other position IMHO.

We really should be able to get a great player at #10 if that's what we do. This years draft is solid. |

He's compared to Woodson and Bailey

Re: 2011 NFL Draft Consensus Big Board
With such a huge need at NT, I think the Redskins should target Phil Taylor, the DT from Baylor University. This kid is 6-4, 340 lbs and he seems fit for the 3-4 NT position. The question is where is he going to go? Late first round or early second round.

Green Bay did show, as well as pittsburgh, that with a dominant NT and Outside rusher(s) you can win lots of games in the NFL, as well as championships.

It's going to be interesting to see how teams feel about Taylor's character

Re: 2011 NFL Draft Consensus Big Board
Interesting, I didn't know much about him other than what I saw in a few articles around the senior bowl. He seems to be one of the few guys with the physique of a 3-4 NT, so I'd be curious how character balances out with need. What did he do? (Just curious).

Am I missing something??? -- I don't see what all the media draft experts see in Blaine Gabbert.
