Nah, I think what you are smelling is leftover from when we gave up a 2nd and 4th rounder for McNabb.

Guys let's take a a minute and think about things. A guy was CUT from his team and we're TALKING to him. Does anyone have any evidence of saying we want him for so many dollars, a certain role, etc...

Teams talk to players A LOT... starters, backups, etc

TALKING to someone is nothing

what a bunch of dramatics

This is still the new regime. McNabb is a flop so far but, his contract allowed for the possibility of such a thing. Yes, the draft picks hurt but, if McNabb did it up, it would've been worth it. Old regime's Haynesworth doesn't want to play and Shanahan wasn't afraid to bench him too. I think we'll see an incentive laden contract that won't pay him a ton of money and he won't be around long either if that's the case. Relax, friends.

Yeah, I really don't see the harm in signing the guy to a low risk, short term contract. It would be one thing if we were giving up draft picks for him, but if it's an incentive laden deal, no harm no foul.

If the dude is healthy, and can share the duties say with Bryant for a year or two since AH most likely will be gone and Kemo didn't live up to his billing then I'd say get him. Then either next yr or the yr after the team can go after a NT when there might be one worth going after. I keep hearing how this yrs draft really doesn't have a bonified NT to be worth reaching for and basically they are not NT's and would have to be converted.
But the guy isn't any good. If he was Detroit, and Cleveland would've kept him around. To me this is just more band aid football when we need surgery.

If you sign Rodgers then you can't sign it makes its harder and much less likely that we'll sign the younger NT/DE Paul Soliai.

I think it's the history of this team that continues to fan the flames. People remember when it comes to big name free agents, the Redskins always lead the pack.

He's considered one of the top defensive tackles available. He was "cut" by the Cleveland Browns this week. Some fans have a difficult time believing teams cut their top players.

This post from a poster at Washington Post caught my eye: Responding to Redskin Insider: Shaun Rogers meets with Redskins, signing is not imminent.

If this team gives a 32 year-old NT with a history of injuries, questionable work ethic, and off-field issues a contract worth $5 million/yr and let their most productive WR (and damn near ONLY playmaker) walk away coming off a career season when the same price could keep him in burgundy and gold, then it's gonna be awfully hard to sell anyone the notion that the Redskins are in better hands now than they were before...[UNQUOTE/

Whether their intention is to sign him or not, it's the above mind-set that has been adopted when it comes to the Redskins and free agents.

I guess that's why Rogers left town without a contract. Hopefully we are not in the "business as usual" mode of regimes past. Develop our own talent.

One could say that about any of the positions mentioned on this site. I think the funniest one had to be the crowd talking about the RB position.

Your right there is no one position that is going to take us to the SB especially since we have so many gaping holes, but what if the team plans to trade or dump AH? They have to fill his spot and if the plan is to use and develope Bryant then they still need to replace AH with some one who can either back up Bryant or start if they are better.

I'm betting no matter who else is brought in or what position someone will not be satisfied and come up with a fabulous sarcastic remark about how said player is the ticket to the SB. I just wish people would realize the 10 years it took Cerrato to ruin this team will take more then 1 or 2 offseasons to fix.

So.... what's your answer? Clearly the team has some glaring holes all over the place and the team has only 6 or 7 picks most in the latter two rounds. You know rounds where the majority seem to think the players are camp fodder. So I you only have 3 or 4 decent round picks how would you plan on filling the other holes and get better back ups? Just wondering cause as far as I'm concerned Kemo did diddly, AH did diddly besides lay on the ground often. So if the team gets rid of AH, and Daniels that's two spits that need filled.

But you can't just look at it as this team needs "one surgery". It actually needs several surgeries and the doctor has to decide which ones can be held off for another day and which ones need immediate attention. It's like a client who can't afford all the surgeries at once. The doctor will pick the once that need fixed immediately and hope to resolve the rest at a later date.
