Re: Potential Government Shut Down

This isn't about who is living in The House. It's about two sides that are not willing to care about the people they are supposed to be serving enough to cut the bullshit. When our country gave up on it's people and cared more about money than ever we started heading down tis slope. Some of you may feel it's this president who is at fault, I feel that he shoulders some of the blame. It's everyone that works down the street from where I do who is to blame. They all need to sit down and think about what they are doing to the american people.

The companies that are making money hand over fist yet they pay no taxes, give them a bill just like I get every paycheck and every year. Maybe that can help a little bit ?

What do I know, not too much but **** them all for the stress they are putting us through. All this standoff at High Noon bullshit is real childish.

We are animals with competing interests and I require a different type/level of service.

To hell with those rich shits. They'll still get paid, but all of us contractors get dick while they play their game. They'll still get their perks while the federal employees hope they get paid for their time out. I hate politics, and the games that go along with government.

I'm walking around my building and folks are just dragging, sad as hell, talking about whether or not we'll be here monday or not. F it, I can't help what happens it's in their hands, but **** all the people that are playing with peoples lives. Make those big companies pay some taxes and stop giving money away while they send jobs elsewhere. I'm done man, I'm starting to get upset, I'll be burning about 5 tonight !

Sorry to hear about your situation. Do you work for the government or a contractor that does government work.

I'm a contractor and my wife is a Federal Employee. This is a shitty thing, I hope they work this out soon. Everyone here is expecting to be out for about a week tops, the crazy thing is I was told earlier that I have to come in Monday to turn in the albatross they call a Blackberry, only to be sent home once it's all official.

Not all contractors. One of the companies that contracts to us is going to pay up to a week's worth of salary for any employee affected by a shutdown.
They're not a small company, either.

I agree. Compensating soldiers with an IOU to stare the barrel of the enemy gun seems OK to me. Carry on.

I don't see why they should be classified differently than any other government employee. No pay for everyone!

The 20 yr. olds in Iraq / Afghanistan with a wife and/or child at home that are worried about car payments, house/rent payments, food, utility payments I'm sure agree with you.

I wonder why the President, Congress, and also welfare recepients still get their checks while young military families living paycheck to paycheck, with their lives on the line for the defense of this nation, see a disruption in pay.....when that issue could be fixed with a stroke of Obama's pen (see previous gov't shut-downs). Obama is the C in C and uses these kids as pawns in a politcal game....Disgusting!

I'm not disagreeing with you, just pointing out that Capitol Hill people of every political stripe are also using them as political pawns because they are being driven by ideology rather than substantive issues.

If they want to fight over funding for Planned Parenthood vs. Defense acquisitions fine, I get it. But as I mentioned, all it takes is a stroke of the pen by Obama to take the soldiers timely pay out of it.

As do the 22+ yr. olds who work for the government who may or may not have bills to pay.

The 22+ yr. olds that work in other areas of the gov't don't face the choice of getting shot at or going to Leavenworth. Both Reagan and Clinton made sure the military did not see a pay disruption in the last two shut-downs.
