Re: How did other teams do?

I just dont understand the praise being heaped on the Eagles and Giants this morning. The Giants went BPA and ended up taking a non-impact player at a premium position that wasn't a need. Amukamara is a no. 2 corner on that team who should start for them between 2012 and 2019. Hardly a cause for a party.

And the Eagles picked a 26 year old interior lineman. Probably the worst pick of the round and out of character for the Eagles.

I disagree about the Giants. I think that they need better play from, and depth within, their corner ranks. And while Amukamara likely won't be much of a playmaker, he should be a very solid corner. I think getting the second best corner in the draft at #19 is good value.

As for the Iggles, they struck by combining value with need. I grant that his age would have made him less attractive to me. But at least for several years they have shored up a weakness.

Fair points. I just want to point out that in a year where the BPA strategy was paying higher than ever dividends to all teams that were patient and used it, the Giants drafted Prince Amukamara maybe 6 or 7 spots after his projected slot. In an other year, I don't know if Prince is a top 20 player. But this year, he unquestionably was, so I'll give the Giants props for their patience, if nothing else.

The Giants should have gone o-line, they should've learned from the mistakes that we and the Cowboys made by letting our o-line get old. Oh well, more sacks for Rak and Superman

I definitely understand your argument and Tripp's arguments and they are good ones. But it still seems to me that the Giants did well in terms of maximizing value.

The Iggles are a weaker argument but they still at least tried to balance value and need well.

Re: How did other teams do?

The Good
Saints - two impact starters (yes I know they traded next year's #1) but it's likley to be a late #1 and both Jordan and Ingram fill major needs.

Detroit - well done, scary interior DL

Arizona - Peterson is a more physical version of Deion Sanders, game changer in two phases of the game.

Texans - Watt fills a big need and should help free up Mario Williams

Patriots - Solder brings needed help to either tackle spot, and the Pats also pick up a 1st rounder in 2012 for dropping 28 spots.

Colts - Castonzo, see above

Chiefs - Baldwin, big physical receiver to compliment and free up Bowe. Big time Red Zone threat.

Us - Trade down and pick up a 2nd, still fill a major need with a top shelf player.

The Bad
Atlanta - Julio Jones nice WR, but needs on D were much higher and top shelf DEs and OLBs were there for the pickin'

Titans - Locker at 8......no way.

Ravens/Bears - ha, ha, idiots.

The Ugly
Vikings - Ponder at # 12 ????? Folks will be looking for new jobs after this one.

Panthers - Newton......I'll echo the same thing many said yesterday before the draft. The Panthers have MANY needs and two QBs drafted last year, plus Matt Moore. You could put Peyton Manning in Carolina and they would still struggle. Why take such a huge risk on Newton with all his red flags and liabilities in the pass game? The chance of Newton succeeeding and becoming a top tier QB in the NFL is small. They could've taken Peterson to bring immediate help at CB and on specials, Von Miller, Dareus, etc. Rivera put his job on the line with this pick IMO and unfortunately for him this will likely send him back to being a DC rather than HC.

Falcons - trade for Jones......a 1st, a 2nd and two 4ths ???? No way, very bad move by the Falcons. They didn't get massacred by GB in their own house because of a lack of a second playmaking WR.
