Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Volek could be the bridge we need until Shanahan drafts the guy he wants to mentor.

Personally I think the Redskins will be better off if they focus on building their offense around the running game regardless of who they bring in at QB. And right now I think it should be Beck because despite him being 30 years old he still has the most upside for the Redskins in 2011. I went back and looked at his preseason numbers in 2009 under Cam Cameron in Baltimore, which was a system he had spent time in and he was productive in those games so maybe the time spent here really has helped Beck. Someone like Young on the other hand has more upside overall but bottom line, Beck has an extra year in the system. Still the Skins are taking a huge risk but the Shanahans have spun straw into gold before so I'll hope for the best but still look at the Cardinals as a cautionary tale. As for Voleck. I don't know about the Redskins but he really should get a chance to start somewhere.

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Id be fine with resigning Grossman and having him/Beck compete for the starting position, then see what one of them can do given a whole year to start in this system. If it doesnt work out there are some solid qb prospects next year.
Andrew Luck QB Stanford Matt Barkley QB USC Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State Ryan Lindley QB San Diego State Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State Nick Foles QB Arizona G.J. Kinne QB Tulsa Kellen Moore QB Boise State Landry Jones QB Oklahoma Last edited by sdskinsfan2001; 05-01-2011 at 10:01 PM. |

Add Landry Jones to the list BUT I don't see him being a franchise QB in the NFL.

IF Dan Persa comes back healthy add him into the mix. If he has another nice year with Northwestern he would be behind Luck, Moore, Barkley, and Jones. If he improves upon his 2010 stats, I would put him at #3. Persa is superior to the rest of your field with the exception of the "Big 3". |
