Really? You give this entire board facepalm moments on pretty much daily basis.

Not to speak for him, but personal situation he may not want to discuss.

It was kind of a play on this hooskins. I am not that naive.

Your Result: The South

That's a Southern accent you've got there. You may love it, you may hate it, you may swear you don't have it, but whatever the case, we can hear it.
Regardless of what this says I do not have that deep of a southern accent. I just annunciate American English.

I work with a woman from the Philly area and she says "water" very weirdly.

She says the first syllable as she's going to say "wood" and then REALLY emphasizes the 't' in the second part.

Born and raised in San Diego.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland
"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
Result Breakdown:
100% The Midland
80% Philadelphia
78% The Inland North
77% The South
58% The Northeast
33% The West
25% Boston
19% North Central

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.
The West 85%

The Midland 85%

Boston 60%

The Inland North 40%

The South 35%

Philadelphia 25%

The Northeast 20%

Lived in Northern Virginia for 21 out of my 23 years, and that's my conclusion? I might be mistaken for a Canadien? lol.

The quiz said my accent is from the SOUTH. But it did not specify which part of the SOUTH...

Re: Quiz: What American accent do you have?

Ive always have had a fascination with accents and dialects and everything culturally implicit about them. Ive also recently come to appreciate the english language as probably the most important, advanced and colorful in the world. I dont know how i came across this but for those interested in this type of thing, i thought it was a great read:

Strine - the world's most advanced English dialect
