The question is, is he being underpaid? I'm sorry to tell you this but the only time one can ask for a raise isn't during their annual salary evaluation.

I have said it all along on more than one occasion that this is a very bad trend that the league should take a serious look at. However, as long as teams continue to accomodate players who desire to regonitiate in the middle of their deals players will continue to attempt it. I think most of us agree that something should be done to curb the notion.

Yeah, but if they say no to the raise, the rest of us still have to come to work.

The real problem here is that the owners should either make offseason workouts mandatory or just don't allow them at all. I know that there are issues with the players association, but it appears that teams really expect their players to attend. If it's important, they need to change the rules, make them mandatory, and be done with it. It's ironic that it's always the richest players that don't attend while the lowest paid players bust thier ass. It says alot about the character of the guys who don't show up.

I can see both sides. I agree, if you sign the contract stating you'll play, then play. However, I can understand a second round pick being sick of his first contract. That's bs. Boldin put up huge numbers and I know he wouldn't make a million this year. I wouldn't play for less either. He's worth about 4 or so, he should get it. Portis was putting up 1500 yards for 450k. If you're a top ten guy at your position and you got picked in the second round. I can understand being upset.
