Interestingly enough, though, it's possible we could have a new jersey...

That's not a "new" jersey, that's what we wore with the yellow helmets in 2007.

Re: 2011 NFL Uniform Thread

That is true too.

NFL Uniform rules would also not allow us to wear that throwback jersey more than four (I believe) times in a season either, so it couldn't be our "new" regular jersey without prior approval. I don't know how wearing just part of a throwback uniform with the regular helmet would be according to rules.

The gold pants were approved last year...Allen started working on that as soon as he took the job it seemed!

Re: 2011 NFL Uniform Thread

The Bears' Lance Briggs is saying he's going to wear some red/white/blue shoes and gloves that he got from Reebok on 09/11 and doesn't care if he's going to be fined...which he likely will.

I hope there is a big backlash against the league if they try to fine him. Better yet, I hope as many players as possible get these shoes and gloves.

If the teams have to wear hot pink for a month EVERY season, but can't show some patriotism on a VERY IMPORTANT, SOLEMN date...ridiculous.

I support Briggs in this 100%. Now just stop whining about your contract again and stop asking for trades.

Yeah, I hope to see a lot of players wearing these as well. I just read that Cooley will most likely be wearing this stuff too.
If the NFL is insistent on fining players for wearing this gear (which is completely stupid) then I would at least hope that any money collected goes to 9/11 related charities.

Re: 2011 NFL Uniform Thread

I'm about ready to buy and update my own jersey collection with a new one, but I may hold off this year because the whole league is going to Nike jerseys next year and I am anticipating a new Redskins look in the Fall of 2012.

Re: 2011 NFL Uniform Thread

I only expect the Reebok logo will change to a Nike logo and that's it for us. Maybe the fabric will look slightly different.

Don't expect Nike to come in and go all Pro Combat on the league...the teams have identities and traditions and the league has a strict uniform policy.

Re: 2011 NFL Uniform Thread

I'll believe it when I see it.

In the throw back uniforms the team used yellow.
Last year they used a more mustard color.

So in all reality I'd prefer they use the actual color for a change. Just take a moment and Google "yellow", "mustard color", and "gold" and you will see the differences. Maybe use actual "gold" and "burgundy" with a hint of metal flake to make the helmets pop.

Stop with the Mustard and Yellow. The Skins use GOLD. Athletic Gold is far different than a traditional gold like the 49ers and Saints use.

Re: 2011 NFL Uniform Thread

Well you made my case and point.

2002-present: mustard
1997-2001: mustard
1980-1996: yellow
1978-1979: mustard
1972-1977: mustard
1970-1971: mustard
1965-previous: GOLD

All I'm saying is I'd like to see the team get back to an original color gold. You all can hate it all you want but Florida state uses an actual gold which is what we should be using instead of yellow.

Funny, I don't see the term mustard anywhere in Buster's post, which is pretty informative by the way. Nice source.

^ There is a difference between metallic gold and organic gold. We use organic gold, not yellow.

You know that a goldenrod flower is gold - it is written right into the name. That is organic gold.

Re: 2011 NFL Uniform Thread

What I found interesting is that we have only been the Burgundy and Gold since 1970. Prior to that, we were the Maroon & Gold!

So, Zorn almost sorta had it half right. lol.

You are correct fine gentleman it is not but what I was refering to is the fact that people for whatever reason accept yellow as gold even if the team wants to call it gold. My point was just because the team wants to use the term "gold" does not make it gold. Officially it has been closer to either yellow or mustard not gold, or as the fine other gentleman pointed out "metallic gild" which is what I would prefer they use. I'm guessing you guys would be alright if the team used a more candy apple red and called it "burgundy" too.

It's not the team calling it gold, that's the actual color. The color is "officially" GOLD! If you feel better calling it mustard, go ahead.

You do realize there are different varieties of every color. There's not just one red, one green, one black, one gold, etc.

I thought I heard something on ESPN saying the NFL was OK ing the whole red/white/blue thing based on the day "9/11".
