Stephen Bowen hasn't been that bad at all.

He and Cofield have been invisible the past three games.

I only rewatched a portion of the Panthers game and had to deal with streams otherwise. I have definitely seen Cofield being pushed back often, but Bowen, not so much.

Cofield had a pressure on Sunday I think, because I remember being so shocked I spilled my scotch on the couch

Their job is to tie up the blockers so the linebackers can get the tackles. I suggest you look at the box score and see how many tackles our LBs had. They are doing fine.

Three losses in a row is fine?

I was unaware they can block and throw passes as well. Maybe we should look into switching them.

LOL really? I suggest you look at the box score. We allow 100 yard rushers like it's going out of style. Their job is more than just tying up blockers. They get no push.

3 down lineman are going up against 5 offensive lineman. What kind of push are you expecting?

Well in a 3-4 scheme the NT and the DEs are supposed to occupy blocker and push the pocket. The job of a good 3-4 NT is to take up blockers and collapse the pocket, something that I don't think Cofield has done a lot.

I really don't have much complaints about Bowen or Carriker, but I think Cofield could do a better job at NT, the problem is that he isn't one, I think he would have made a helluva 3-4 DE though.

But in the end, I think discussions about the defense are a bit pointless, given the crappy offense we have. Unless you have an elite defense like Baltimore or Pittsbugh that can win games by themselves, a solid defense is not going win many games with a shitty offense.

As to the first point, exactly. As to the second, I love what Carriker has done, but Bowen has pretty much been a wash for the past month.

I might expect the kind of push that the Ravens get with 3 down linemen against 5 offensive linemen...

Or maybe the kind of push that BJ Raji gets up the middle for the Packers against an inside double team on virtually every passing down...

If your justification for the lack of a pass rush from the Skins 3 defensive linemen had broad validity, no one would use a 3-4 defense. And if they ever put a 3-4 defense on the field, the offenses would immediately audible to a passing play.

Teams don't exactly use the 3-4 looking for or expecting the d-line to rush the passer. And the Ravens D/BJ Raji are pretty high hopes. Tough for anyone to play to their level. They do their job (occupying o-lineman) and then some... D-line isn't really our issue right now anyways
