rex could throw the ball past the line of scrimmage... just saying. beck's never won a game in the nfl, is past 30 and has been passed over by the ravens and the dolphins.

I have no idea why we brought him here or why anyone thought he'd be any good. this is what i expected, and i wish it was wrong, but i think it's time to fix it.

I was as hopeful as anyone that Beck would be at least a serviceable QB, if not an upgrade over Rex. But my take after watching yesterday's performance is that what happened to Rex is weighing on Beck as he's playing like a guy who is afraid to make a mistake and therefore takes no chances at all. After not having had an opportunity (except on one of the worst teams in NFL history in the 2007 Dolphins), Beck finally gets his chance, but only after Rex throws a bunch of terrible picks. So Beck figures if he can throw high percentage, short passes, avoid the INTs, they'll be able to generate enough offense to keep him in as the starter. So he doesn't look down the field, doesn't look for crossing routes, and tries to unload the ball as quickly as possible (which, given the drubbing by the Bills, is somewhat understandable).

But the problem is that no one is afraid that he can pick anyone apart. That the 49er safties were positioned for pass plays like they were run plays says a lot. No fear that the passing game is a real threat, and it surely isn't. The real elite QBs in this league walk onto the field thinking, "I am going to light you up." Beck walks onto the field thinking, "Please don't light me up." And it shows.

when beck throws deep he's off target but yards. his accuracy is awful on long balls.

Yup. Also, I think as we look at the past 24 games, one could make a really solid argument that we should have kept Jason Campbell over the 3 qbs we've had starting since him. Not saying he was the franchise savior, but I think he certainly would have been a better 2 season band-aid than McNabb, Beck, or Grossman.

Oh hellyeah absolutely. I was never a Campbell hater while he was here, and he played more consistent for us than any of the 3 qb's who have played so far under Mike Shanahan. If we had kept him we'd have a potential 2nd round pick sitting on the roster right now.

It's funny how a lot of fans wanted Campbell gone and now realize he wasn't so bad. My point is, the same can be said about Kyle Shanahan, a lot of fans want him gone but in actuality you won't find someone better, people need to be patient. When the young players develop (has already started) and a QB is drafted, linemen drafted, we will see what we've been wanting to see on offense. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Shanny should have been patient too and not traded for McNabb. As I said before, last year was semi wasted, this is the first year of the rebuild.

I agree with you 100%. McNabb's QB rating last season was 77.5. This year Grossman's QB rating is 66.5 and Beck's QB rating is 72.1. Where is the upgrade? Donovan McNabb would have probably had a much better grasp of the offense going into year 2. We all know he would be more effective than either Beck or Grossman at this point of the season.

Another Mike Shanahan foul up.
