IF Tannehill doesn't pan out, a Dan Persa, or another starting QB of less reknown could be serviceable if not surprise us and be a Flacco. To be honest, I think we really get too much into the hype about QBs. Being a stud in NCAA Div I doesn't mean anything in the pros. How does a Heath Shuler or Ryan Leaf totally suck and a guy like Tom Brady become a stud? RG III could be a very good qb or he could suck in the pros. Same goes for Luck. Cam Newton and to a lesser extent Sam Bradford somewhat lived up to the hype, but for every one of those guys there are a dozen Joey Harringtons and Patrick Ramseys. No matter who we pick first, it is still a gamble.
I agree. If Shanahan really knows QBs like he claims, then he would just go with the safest selection. I saw flaws in Landry Jones game this year that I didn't see last season. He's still very accurate and putting up huge stats and QB ratings, but Landry Jones would be either hit or miss. Matt Barkley would be the safest draft choice. He's everything you want in a QB. Luck is the best of them all and is great too, but unless Bruce Allen makes a bold trade, I don't see the Redskins landing Luck. And lastly, Robert Griffin III is extremely talented. He has the makings of a tremendous pro quarterback. I'm sure Mike Shanahan, as much as a mirco managing coach talent evaluator that he is, will take RG3 into high consideration.
