Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I know CB is a need, but I hate the fact that once again we would take a defensive player. I still don't think we will have a defense that would carry the team, even with a top flight CB on board, because of our inept offense.

I vehemently disagree with your post. Shanahan is the first coach in a long time that's coming in here and rebuilding this franchise the right way. Of course there were some misses, but there isn't a single organization that doesn't make mistakes. I remember this board clamoring when McNabb was brought in and the move heavily praised by fans. Shannahan stated that his focus was on the defense and switching a 4-3 to a 3-4. Our defense went from 31st last season to 13th this season. If we improve our secondary I see this defense being formidble for many years to come. Especially as the players continue to understand the 3-4 and we get players built for the type of scheme we're running. In addition, Shanahan throughout his career has had succesful offenses. I think we see an emphasis on building a potent offense in DC and I have no doubt he is capable of doing that. He didn't get fired in Denver because his offense wasn't producing. His defense was absolutely pathetic. It takes time to rebuild a team. While Griffin is a great prospect, he isn't a sure thing. Can you imagine giving up 4-6 fairly high picks for a player and not have him pan out? I can imagine it now. Fans and media crucifying Shanahan for such a 'stupid move.' If going up to get RGIII is affordable, then I'm all for it -- but if it will cost the farm, stay put or move back and continue to build the entire team. As I said in another thread. I could see us going after an FA QB such as Flynn. Blackmon or Floyd (hopefully Blackmon) in the 1st, then Foles/Tannehill in the 2nd. I want to see Washington build a perrenial winner. I'm fine taking some lumps in order to get both a scheme and young personnel established. took the 31st ranked defense to the 13th ranked defense

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
You know how many Skins fans are going to be borderline suicide come draft day if Shanahan doesn't move up to get RGIII and drafts a CB at the #6 spot?....lol I imagine prozac sales will skyrocket in the DC area.

The Shannhans have done nothing to prove that can acquire, draft, or develop an elite QB. I'm tired of everyone making excuses for the Shannhans ineptitude. I'm actually more pissed that we didn't get Jake Locker last year, someone who we could of dealt for and landed. Now we're going to have to "settle" for whatever 2nd rate QB is out there since the Shannahans are incapable of getting a true franchise QB. |

My gut feeling right now is that our opening day starting QB is currently on an NFL roster...though not ours

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Matt Leinart, did he sign a 1 or 2 year deal to stay in Houston?

But whatever clearly you're not thinking totally straight as you're getting all worked up over one rumor (yet somehow ignoring rumors that have the Redskins trading up for RG3 and even others that have the Dolphins trading up for RG3, and others that have the Seahawks trading up for RG3)...so we'll chat again when you've calmed down

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I'm just lmao at the fans who think we have to get our franchise QB now and from the draft. and laughing at the others who think it's RGIII. Apparently there is no other QB out there worth anything other then RGIII. With out even playing a down in the NFL he's become "the guy". Superman.
I guess all the other QB's should just not even enter the draft cause clearly they are not worthy. |

And I vehemently disagree since nothing he's done thus far has translated into more wins. Until he does I will continue to judge him by his record. |

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Let's wait and see how this all plays out. I keep going back and forth on this. Only thing that IS clear is the the Redskins need a franchise QB, but they also need to keep building the roster up. That secondary was very uninspiring to watch this season, and the Redskins need to continue building that offensive line into something that is solid and has depth.
Regardless as to what Shadowbyte said, Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan have brought in some great talent and they're building through the draft. It's a process. If we want a truly solid team - both offense and defense - it takes time. Even I get carried away when we talk about Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. Both are solid, smart QBs and I think both have great careers in the NFL. But, think about it. If our offensive line is solid, strong, and excellent in pass protection and run blocking, don't you think that's much better situation for a young QB to be in to grow and develop into a top notch QB rather than a team that still has obvious weaknesses? What about on defense? Wouldn't you love to see a true shutdown CB ala Darrell Green or Champ Bailey, and a solid defensive front which makes it impossible to run against? I want this team to have no deficiencies. Look what happened to the Packers. We all thought that team was headed to the Super Bowl. As good as they have looked this year, they obviously lacked something. The same COULD be said about the Patriots by the end of this coming weekend. And what will both have in common? Defenses give up way too many yards. Goes to show you, if you want to build a champion, you have to play like one on both sides of the ball. Mike Shanahan is trying to build a champion, not just a team that will be good enough to make the playoffs but never get that far.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
I think it would be highly unlikely we would throw a drafted QB in the fire from day one like Dalton and expect results. Are you talking about Jimmy Clausen again SS?

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Not really talking about anyone specifically...but there is a "sleeper" I've mentioned a couple of times whose name has been getting some off the record mention lately. To clarify, I'm not sure next season even ends with a rookie QB starting...but there will be one on the roster
