I am extremely leery to mortgage the teams future on a QB that IS A SURE FIRE BACK UP DAY 1. He is a true spread QB coming out of college and will not have success day 1 because he NEEDS the time and practice to become a professional, and learn the position and playbook he will be expected to play. Will he become a great QB? Maybe, he certainly displays great athletic skills, and by all accounts is an intelligent and hard working young man, but that doesn't mean he is going to come in and light it up day one. History says that it is more likely to come in and fall flat on his face than the opposite.
well i would like to take the chance, rather than just be ok or a decent team at best forever

Fair enough, I too yearn for the day that the Skins return to greatness, and perennial contender status. I am extremely afraid to see a "Ricky Williams type deal" go down for RGIII.

yea i agree. but i would also hate to see us sit back and not try and get him and him get drafted and be on highlights for years to come as he helps a young team mature and make the playoffs while we are on here debating again on who we should get at qb. I just think guys like Griffin are far and few between with his accuracy, athletic ability, and most important his mindset. we need him.

Funny the same thing was said about Locker last year. Also the opposite was said about Dalton. I really wish we had taken Dalton just to quiet down the panicked "we have to get a Rookie QB" because no one else can get the job done. Franchise QBs are developed and work well over years of service, what you want is a flash in the pan.... Another Mile Vick, how many SB's did he win? I'd rather have someone who can be developed and take this team into the play offs for many years because he is the right QB for our system vs having a highlight reel.

RG3 had better overall production and accomplishments than Vick had coming out. RG3 has a more stable upbringing than Vick. RG3 is more intelligent than Vick. Why would these facts make one think RG3's career would be similiar?

I just don't see what all the fuss is with having to pay a premium for the right to draft RGIII. Is the extra cornerback, receiver, or linebacker worth not getting a franchise QB? An elite prospect that can make the team contenders year in and year out.

Let me tell you something, the rest of the NFC East is praying we don't get this guy. They don't want to face him as a rookie and they sure as hell don't want to face him when he starts to come into his own around year 3. I see this guy as a top 5 QB when he develops and certainly he'll end up being the best QB in the East. You just don't pass up an opportunity to take the guy that can turn around your team because you want to be frugal.

The same was said about Locker last year because its true, hes better than anything we have. I'll pass on a flash in the pan, I know franchise QBs are developed over time. I believe RG3 will come in as a good quarterback for a team and for sure improve over the years especially with his style of play and mindset. I also have a feeling he will produce many highlights as well. highlights = points = offense = wins = playoffs= championships = what the skins neeeeed

For someone who is saying MS needs to get it right and take the right QB because this coming year might cost him his job after year 3 in a 5 year contract, I'm supprised you would settle for an unknown commodity.

I think people get too riled up about who "THEY" want or would like to see the Skins get that they forget that there are other choices. What if MS and KS don't believe RG3 is their style of QB?

When did I ever say i think MS may lose his job? I believe in him and I think he knows what he is doing, I just want a good cornerstone qb.

No you didn't but the RGIII crowd in general. Basically these were comments being made recently by many different people who feel the Skins "must" do whatever it takes to get RGIII. I'm just lumping you in with the other RGIII fans. Sorry.

You know whats funny? throughout the season fans were clammering about Luck and how the Skins needed to do whatever it took to get him. I wanted Barkley. Then when the Colts were on the "Suck for Luck" campaign and we realized Luck was out of our reach, fans jumped on the Barkley bandwagon, and I said we would end up with RGIII who might be better. Now that Barkley is off the board and RGIII has moved up fans are in sorta a shark frenzi about RGIII and how we "have" to get him or else. I'm kinda turned off of RGIII due to the frenzi.
