People in situations like this can react two ways, it can eat away at them in the back of their minds and effect their play on the field, or they use the playing field as their escape. I guess we'll see how things go with Taylor.

Maybe this is the wakeup call that Sean needs, I sure hope he is able to learn his lesson and still continue to play at a high level for the Skins. This sucks because regardless of when the trial is there is very little doubt that this will wear on anyone. Kobe Bryant performed on the basketball court about as well as possible while going through his court dates, but Sean is a much different guy.

At the very least he should start being more aggressive on the football field, sometimes it seems like he's the only one who doesn't realize what kind of monster he is on the field.

The cynic in me says he will get off because he is a hometown celebrity with money, and we all know how that works with the justice system these days. The optimist in me says he is innocent until proven guilty anyways and hopes this will all work out.
Did anyone read the recent WaPo article on Taylor and his home life? Despite the "best ever background check" (more or less Gibbs' words), it looks like he had problems beforehand: hanging out with the wrong crowd, not wanting to leave home at all, etc. Still, it beats picking Winslow any day. What is it with guys from the "U" anyways? Theories anyone? :smashfrea

I feel that unless theres an unbiased witness possibly from Taylors side, or an unbiased innocent citizen to eyewitness that Taylor pointed a gun at someone he will be ok, the fact that he was shot at after he left whether it can be proven that it was the same individuals or not is a big plus for Taylor, and can go a long way to discrediting the witnesses, [which I am assuming are the individuals involved in this incident as well] which is at this point the only thing that may be able to save him from jail time, and it sounds like his lawyer is already attacking that angle, and it doesn't sound like a tough sell, I would be very surprised if these individuals have no previous confrontations with the law before this incident. But if someone creditable enough steps up and ID's Taylor as having pointed a gun he's got a real problem, under the circumstance you have to wonder how much someone really wants to get involved in the middle of a situation like that, they could be looking for a little incentive to clam up monitarily, sounds to me like finding a creditable witness in this particular neighborhood will be a tough find, not impossible but tough.

I've read about the recruiting practices and campus lives of some of the Florida colleges (All of the big three) and they basically smoke their poles to get them to come there and continually get them smoked by the entire staff for the duration.

mm ok well there's some positive, like he gets to play this season. on the other hand the negatives are if he's conviced he faces a minimum of three years or a maximum of 16 years. hopefully he doesn't get convicted.

Just to be clear. The sentence for a conviction on aggrevated assault with a gun in Florida cannot be reduced to lower than 3 years. Now, whether he gets convicted or not may depend on his lawyer/celebrity status. Sorry, I just don't want people confusing sentencing with guilt.....they are two different issues.

I should have been a bit more clear. If it's looking bad for Taylor he'll get a good plea bargain. Which will keep him outta jail.

He might us the field as his escape, but there is no way he will be able to do the film study that Greg Williams has wanted him to do so badly. How could anyone concentrate on boring film study with this hanging over their head?

This is hurting Taylor and the Redskins already.

If Ray Lewis can get off, then Taylor shouldnt have that much of a problem. But with that being said, it will be our luck as Redskin fans that this time the "justice system" will try to make an example with Taylor!!!

And if Michael Jackson can get off because there were no cameras in the bedroom and it was "his word against mine".....then Taylor will probably beat this rap.

thats exactly what we have here isn't it? No cameras and "my word against yours"? The biggest thing about this case is that there must be incontrovertable evidence that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was waving a gun and threatening somebody. The gun must be produced or ownership of a gun must be established and then there must be witnesses...thats plural...to testify under oath that he did this.

Might be hard to get those "witnesses" on the stand considering their past records and current exploits will be called into question. I kind of doubt this is going anywhere...but it sure does give the prosecutor his 15 minutes of fame and maybe he can write a book.

I see it the other way around, Taylor's co-defendant Charles Elwood Caughman has an attorney called Evan Hoffman, and he said....
"What they are doing is using Charles as a pawn to get the top prize: Sean Taylor. They could have filed a misdemeanor against my client. But there's a headhunt for Sean Taylor, and we don't need to be caught in the middle of it. We're going to explore all our options, and do what's best for Charles."

To me that says they are NOT going to to plea bargain and they will take this case to jury trail.
What Miami jury is going to convict a U of Miami hero (Sean Taylor-no convictions) by believeing the accounts of some rather rumored to be shadey characters that are prosecutions witness'?
