Following year I don't know about that. I don't think Haslett has ever really comfortably established himself here and I don't believe he and Shanahan (Mike) always see eye to eye.

Anyhow, there are plenty of people who believe that ultimately MS will move full-time up stairs and the new leaders of the team on the field will be Kyle and Raheem-with one as head coach and the other as assistant/associate head coach/coordinator.

But I don't expect that to be next year

It's almost humorous that after two terrible seasons there would be any anticipation/expectation about how Mike and Kyle will run the team beyond 2012. Win some games and make the team competitive then we'll "talk" lol...

I wonder who those people are? Do you think they'll survive if we win 4-6 games?

Who will survive? All of them?

We're going to win more than 6 games so it's not a concern to me

There would have to be injuries of catastrophic proportions for us to win 4-6 games this season. Even IF that's the case, the hopes of a short leash on Shanny are wasted. He's locked in for 5 yrs, especially with a rookie QB. There may be some movement on assistants (Haslett's deal is up after this year) but the big 3 (MS, BA, KS) will be here for the duration.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Now, this was a serious question and serious insight on the long term future of the Skins....Morris as DC sounds promising...even HC potential sounds interesting...Shanny JR was 2 years ago a sure thing in the minds of many as a future HC...now...not so much...we shall see.

It is good to have 2 potential HC on staff....ever remember the old days when most of us were freaking out because Gregg Williams was spurned as successor of Gibbs II....boy was I wrong!

It's good to have experience on the coaching staffs. A lot of NFL have coordinators and even position coaches who were once head coaches or those who will likely be head coaches in the future. If Raheem Morris ends up being the head coach of the Redskins someday, that would be a good thing. I'm not sure Kyle Shanahan is ready for such a demanding position.

WT? come on man, how can you know? Morris sucked which is why he was fired. KS's offensive scheme is not that bad so I doubt he would do as bad as Morris did.

Maybe, maybe not. I like Kyle Shanahan as an offensive coordinator. Whether he does well enough on a consistent basis in order to become a head coach is another thing altogether. Norv Turner was probably the best offensive coordinator in the modern NFL but his head coaching record is one of the worst. Josh McDaniels was one of the best offensive coordinators of recent time, but he was terrible as a head coach. George Seifert was another great offensive coordinator and inherited a winning 49ers team when Bill Walsh stepped down. But since winning a Super Bowl in 1989 and 1994, Seifert most recent head coaching gig was with the Carolina Panthers in 2001 before he was fired after a 1-15 season.

Lately, it has been the defensive coordinators who mostly succeed as head coaches in the NFL.

Whether Kyle Shanahan becomes a head coach with the Redskins or for any other team in the NFL remains to be seen.

I think there is a lot we don't know and a little that we do. All we know is what we see. How much wiggle room was KS given by his father? I look at the first year and ignore it because I think it was more the coaching staff getting to know what they had. Then they pretty much got rid of half the players. On top of that they really didn't have a running game that first year so I think KS was given more play calls. The second year I think MS took more control and added more of the running game.

Basically I think this year will be more telling. With a better running game, better QB play, an upgrade at WR and hopefully with a OL that knows their assignments better we will see better plays and better play calls.
