It doesn't break any etiquette, but how smart is it to risk injury for 3 quarters in your first preseason game? I'm not sure there's much value there either in leaving your #1's in there against 3rd and 4th stringers.

To a vet its probably not all that important, but treating a preseason game like practice and giving your rookies as much time as possible just seems like a good idea to me. And if he, or anyone else, gets hurt well at least he has 4+ weeks before he has to play in a real game.
