Definitely. Thats why they are both gone. They were bought in / drafted for the 4-3. Fell victim to the 3-4. Donofriose nailed it though. The scouts have to really step it up when your drafting for a 3-4. Unless of course you are targeting a guy from Bama or one of those schools you referred to. Just that the talent pool shrinks from 300 schools to about 15 unless you are a good judge of a players raw ability to make the jump.

There are certain players who played in the 4-3 in college that you could draft to play in the 3-4 in the pros and it works out. Rocky McIntosh should have succeeded because he played middle LB in college and OLB in the pros so he should have made the transition smoothly. But the idea of making a player like Andre Carter who was/is a pass rushing specialist as a DE in the 4-3 and trying to get him to be a 3-4 OLB and ask him to not only rush the passer from a 2 point stance but cover TEs, FBs, and half backs coming out of the backfield is not what he's good at.
