firstdown, any interest in ripping your CDs and putting them on a USB key and just using that?

This would make the most sense. I'll have to say I have never down loaded music and maybe its time to start. I won't have to switch everything over to USB Sticks right away but moving foward I can start down loading any music I want. When down loading music do you pay for each time you load the song or the one time down load. I'm sure my wife would laugh if she saw this post. I don't even own an Ipod.

BTW What is a USB stick?

usb flash drive, most people in my office call them sticks, i guess it rubbed off.

i think we're the minority, i've also never owned an ipod.
you pay once, and it's yours to replay how often you like.

does that unit look like it can do everything you want it to? like i said, i'm partial to alpine. many moons ago, my cda-7998 had a problem w the screen (i used to bake my car often, i attribute the problem to that), and they fixed it at no cost to me... AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. bless their hearts

Back in the 80's I sold and installed 100's of Alpine units. I hvae not had the need to install any radios into any of my cars because they came with a nice stock unit so I have been out of the loop. I'll have to call them to see if the stock amp in the car will work because 50 watts is not very much power. So does the flash drive, Ipod, and other things just plug into the front of the radio?

never pay attention to that peak number. rms is the one that counts, the cde-133bt is 18w rms.

that power pack that malcolm referred should do that trick.

you can always install the receiver, see if you're happy w the sound, then add the power pack later, if you're not happy.

crutchfield has live online chat, give them a holler when you have a chance. i prefer online chats (in general) because i can go back and read anything that was said, instead of trying to remember every detail of a phone call.

also, make sure your stock speakers can handle 45w rms.
