If its ACL SPRAIN, then he will be out a minimum of next week, probably the week after as well. Its not a tear, no way he would be walking unassisted and asking to go back into the game with an ACL tear. He could with an MCL tear, but usually an MCL tear doesn't require surgery, just time. The MRI will tell, but with his activity after coming off the field, I think it looks like an MCL or PCL sprain, and he would then be about 50/50 to go for next week.
