I'm just going to say right now that I think there's a lot of PR spin behind this announcement and I'd be very surprised to see him on the field before early October.

Hope I'm wrong

Smoot, I agree, aren't there risks to coming back too early? How do you know when this thing is fully healed, not "feeling good enough to play".

Well the unbelievably quick return of AP will give folks hope for a rapid recovery...

Did he have just the ACL reconstructured or was the LCL involved as well? The LCL may require time, the way I read reports.

I don't mind if you are right, if October is when he is 100% that is when he should play, not a moment before that.

That report did seem a bit optimistic to me also.

If we learned anything its that we do not need to RUSH this thing. Just get it done right, no matter the time frame.

Kirk Cousins was drafted for a reason.

I think this is what this boils down to. Skins PR staff calming the masses so they'll keep the fans from bailing next season. If they knew he'd be out the 2013 season, I can guarantee you they wouldn't tell us. Why would they? Gotta milk that cash cow and continue to give people hope so they'll buy tickets, only to string them along. Mind you, I do think he'll be back next year, but I was merely using this as an example. The fact they've been so secretive this past weeks generally means there is more to it than what there is. Hell, you can tell from the spin they put on the surgery itself. "Oh, he had his LCL repaired....and by the way we decided to redo his previous ACL surgery". In other words, he also tore his ACL and but we don't want to come out and say how severe the damage was because we don't want to take the heat. (for keeping him in the game)

As far as his return, I just hope its sooner than we hope, and he comes back when he's 100%. (not 80%) Whether that's going to be 6 months or 12 months remains to be determined.
