Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
I would franchise him and get that achilis operated on. The franchise tag is not that expensive for a safety. Make him play the one year on the tender and see if he stays healthy and regains his form. If not then move on next year.

Last year, Landry refused surgery in lieu of "alternative treatments". Suppose he opts for another set of "alternative treatments" again this year. How do you propose that the Redskins "make him have surgery?" There is a deadline by which the Skins have to use their franchise tag. Suppose it is 24 hours prior to that deadline and Landry has still not "gone under the knife". What do you do?

If we assume that the Fred Davis deal is already done, then I franchise him and trade him for best offer.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
If Cerrato was here.. We would of re-signed him already to a multi deal. Although, I think the new regime is smarter then that

Actually, this year I think Doughty has played just as well or better than LL. That's of course noting, as others have, that LL hasn't been the same since his achilles injury.

I dont think LL would challenge Jacobs head on again after the incident though. Hes put a normal tackle on him a few times since that play.

If I am involved with player personnel for this team and had to make a snap, quick judgement on Landry now, I say let him walk.

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
I said let him walk. He has had time to show progress and hasn't, at least to my expectations. I'm not worried, as others are, to having to fill another hole in our line up. I was already under the expectations that we would have another sub .500 season next year while we continue to rebuild properly. If it means getting a quality safety play maker here so be it!

I'll be interested to see, if we let him go, who we'll get to replace him...

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
Isn't it weird that to this point Adrian Peterson has been healthier then Laron?

Re: Laron Landry - Redskin for life?
The Redskins need a safety like Alvin Walton who can hit and hit hard. Unfortunately, they don't make safeties like those anymore. What we see mostly today are the coverage safeties. Roy Williams, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, was the last feared safety because of his ability to knock a wide receiver into next week.
