Look at him from a different franchise' perspective: He's still young, got decent starter experience, has experienced growth in almost all major statistics since he became the starter, and is deserving of the benefit of the doubt because the franchise is disheveled and he had to deal with a crappy o-line and changing playcallers midseason.

And one thing I've learned this year is we can talk all day about how bad/good a quarterback is, but it doesn't mean jack shit as to how he's evaluated around the league. You see trades go on all the time where one team gets fleeced but they still think they got the good end of a deal. Weirder things have happened in this league and they will continue to happen.
Just because you tender someone at that level it doesn't mean you're going to get that in return. It's basically just a starting off point for the negotiations. I think it's pretty safe to say nobody is going to give up a 1st and a 3rd for JC.

Honestly, if we COULD get a first and third for him, I'd take it, even being a big supporter of JC's.

We could draft 2 first-round linemen (2 tackles!) and use the second-round pick on a QB not named Bradford or Tebow. Then, use our new third-rounder that we were previously missing on either another lineman, a RB or a LB.

That way we could bolster the line AND get a QB.

how about Schroeder(sp?) to the raiders for Jim Lachey? and more recently, Cutler to the bears for a couple of very high picks( i forget exactly what picks they were, but i think a couple of first rounders) and buster, over the last portion of the season, you were one of Campbell's biggest supporters. are you still?

It's almost torture for him because here comes yet another system and yet another patchwork offensive line. We should keep him because there are no FA QBs that we will land that will be better and we need many other areas that need to be addressed before QB.

The only way I'd have him back is as 'cannon fodder'. By that I mean that if we are in a rebuilding year, why beat up a young QB.

His final numbers:

3,618 yards, 20 TDs, 15 INTs, 64.5% completions, 86.4 rating

All while playing behind a bad OL. Seems like a guy worth keeping around to me.

I've already tried using this logic in other threads Matty. There are still many people who don't want Campbell back. Campbell's name is associated with bad seasons and for that reason he's the scapegoat. I think there are many more areas that need to be addressed first. Get rid of the below average players before the ones who finished slightly above average.

Just an FYI - Carson Palmer's numbers:

3,094, 21 TDs, 13 INTs, 60.5% completions, 83.6 rating

Plus a far better running game and line for Carson.

The poll answer is YES.

before yesterday's game on JC's 3,000 passing yds, more than 2,000 came after the catch. about 58% of his pass yds are from yac. thats by far more than any other team in the nfl.

he is what he is. an average qb with most of his completions being within 10 yds.

He's also what virtually every analyst who did a Redskins game said he is, a QB that a team can win with. He's not, and will probably never will be, elite at the level of a Peyton, Brady, Brees but in the right situation I think he can be every bit of the Eli, Schaub, McNabb type of QB. He's not going to carry a team but he's not going to torpedo your teams chances either.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

yeah i know and agree. the announcer yesterday said the same "you can win with jason campbell" mantra but he also said "things just dont process quickly enough for him". i agree with both, that you can win with JC and that his D reads and decision making just doesnt click fast enough.

the teams w/ elite qb play have a better chance of winning. if the fo thinks bradford is the guy then we should take him.

Very servicable numbers considering that this team had a terrible running game and subpar pass protection. The Snyder Doctrine of drafting perimeter/skill position players (especially DB's and WR's) has failed Campbell and the franchise miserably. I don't care if Eric Berry is the 2nd coming of Ed Reed in the 2010 draft. Consistently good teams win the battle in the trenches. It is high time to address the O-line early and often. Give Campbell a fighting chance in the pocket - even Tom Brady could not function behind this sieve.
