Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
So here's the deal. If the team allows him to stay, despite what he has done, then nothing has changed.
Shanahan was supposed to be so strict regarding players refusing to listen to him, etc....so if he just lets albert get away with this, then he is as big of a joke as Jim Zorn. Seriously, unless this fat sack of shit is released, then we have to admit that nothing has changed here....

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I can only imagine what fat albert is doing with that 21 mil down in south beach. I know one thing his fat ass isn't doing and that's working out. And I bet that is one of the reasons he didn't show his fat face cause he's horribly out of shape.

I think what we are seeing, and haven't seen in a long time, is a functional team operating with an irrational player. The coach has basically said I will deal with who shows and is going to give their all to this team. He, or the GM but not the owner, has privately discussed AH's situation with AH and his agent, and with the player still behaving badly, you see a defensive leader given the ok to basically call out the troublemaker and try to let locker room leaders keep control of the media, so that they aren't harassing everyone all the time. I hope AH wakes up, gets his butt in line and plays for the Skins lights out, but overall the way the organization has handled this card that they were dealt seems very promising for the future. |

from shanny's comments he said Ah had the opportunity to talk and join any team in the nfl in march before he took the 21 mil in april. he said he said to AH that he got 12 mil for the 1st year and that thye felt that was fair compensation. but if Ah took the 21 mil check then he would show up and play NT DE or FS to teh best of his abilities. my question is this: is shanny saying that in march 1) that they were willing to release AH and let him become a FA if he tore up his contract and thus voided the 21 mil due to him or 2) that AH was free to pursue and elicit any trades for him from another team and then the skins would trade him thus having the new team having to pay the 21 mil or 3) that AH was free to pursue and elicit any trades for him from another team and then the skins would trade and he and the new team would sign a new contract thus eliminating the skins contract and teh 21 mil that went with it. if the skins said we are willing to release you if you void the K, AH really has zero defense. he got paid 12 mil for 1 year of work which was more than fair and reasonable. but if the skisn said yiou are free to see if you can get a reasonable trade offer, then we will accept it gives AH alil itty bitty wiggle room. no team would want to give a 3rd or 4th on top of having to pay him the 21 mil. listening and relistening to shanny's comments, i dont know if he means they would release him or just consider any reasonable offer. (reasonable meaning if the skins have to pay the 21 mil then they get 1st rounders in return or if skins dont have to pay the 21 mil, then just a 3rd or 4th rounder).

Bottom line: He had the option to take a check for $ 21M and play f-in football or negotiate the best deal he could with another team and get the F-outta Dodge. His fat ass is trying to get the $ 21M AND get outta Dodge. F this SOB, I wish nothing but ill will on him. I hope the girl he got pregnant and the person he injured while driving recklessly get great lawyers and clean his ass out. Then I hope he blows out a knee and can't play again, after he's been cleaned out financially. Then maybe he can go a get a regular job like the 99.999 % of us who weren't physically blessed to be able to play in the NFL. Then maybe he'll realize how good he had it.

If they need to release him, so be it. That does not mean that the players are still running the show. By now, the other players know in their hearts that Shanahan is running the show. The Haynesworth fiasco is on Vinnie's record, not Shananhan's. All Shanahan would be doing is getting rid of the last vestiges of the old regime. To me, that says that the inmates are no longer running the asylum. IMO, the most likely scenario is that the Redskins will soon put an end to this entire Haynesworth mess and part with him, one way or another. Honestly, as a fan, I don't care how they go about it. I just want him to be gone. Soon. |

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
KI - if you cut him he gets what he wants, and MS looks doubly the idiot ESPECIALLY if the 3-4 fails to work. You put him on the bench, say we paid you a hefty sum, and now this is what we expect. If the 3-4 doesn't work, you have switch to the 4-3 and everyone "wins" in a bad situation. If the 3-4 does work, after a sufficient cooling off period, you put him in like you were going to, in the 4-3 situations and back up Kemo when he needs rest. If AH just never shows up, you file paperwork to get your money back and make him sit out a year. Just cutting him is IMO, a weak lazy response to getting through this situation.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
Also, Shanahan "allows" AH back in to the locker room based on AH's contract, and when in he holds him to the same standard he holds every other player. Show up, earn your spot, and you will play, otherwise you ride the bench until your contract expires, or we have gotten our value from you. For AH, that value part means we aint just gonna show him the door for nothing.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
But don't you feel like it is a waste to pay him his contract if the guy is not going to practice or participate?? He signs a 100 million contract and we are going to pay him through the duration of it even if the guy doesn't show up???

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
At this point, I want us to NOT trade him and just fine his a** everytime he misses something. I know everyone thinks Snyder is a joke, but honestly after hearing what Shannahan gave AH as options (i.e. don't take the money and we will trade you) and then he takes the money anyway???? Dan Snyder got screwed and that's just wrong, I don't care how you feel about Dan Snyder.
The Skins can get their money back by just fineing his butt into eternity for everything he misses. I respect London Fletcher and the stuff he has said about AH is probably right on. London wants guys he can depend on and London is a real class act. Wow, AH could learn a lot form London Fletcher. |

If he doesn't show up, we can go after him for failure to live up to the contract. What is a waste is to pay 21Mill and then not try to get him to honor it.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
^^ If he "doesn't show up" either figuratively or literallly, he is not going to get his 100M. There are provisions in the CBA that let the Skins recoup their money (I am assuming that the contract incorporates the terms of the CBA applicable at the time of signing even if it is now expired). But if he shows up and goes half assed, the CBA lets the Skins recoup their money. If he doesn't show, he forfeits substantial amounts of the contract.
Besides, do you want to set the precedent that the current Denver regime is following? Whine enough (a' la Cutler & Marshall) and we will send you away. Nope, pay him to ride the pine and call it a bad business decision. If he doesn't give the requisite level of effort, fine him for everything and anything you can, call him out at meetings & in the press (avoiding slander of course), make his professional life as miserable as you legally can. All the while saying, smiling and telling him daily "hope you're enjoying your money. Now, go sit on the pine."

He's a bad teammate. He'll never be satisfied with his role. He'll never play the defense the coaches call. He doesn't care about winning, despite his claims to the contrary. As talented as he is, he's not worth having around if he drags down the rest of the team. I don't think he will necessarily be cut. He may be traded for a ham sandwich. As far as his not showing up for training camp, NFW would he not show up. It's all about the money for him and not showing up would create his first real exposure to losing the $21M bonus. I have accepted the possibility that this POS may get away with stealing tens of millions of dollars from our beloved team but I won't accept the possibility that he could be allowed to continue fouling our locker room with his toxic presence. After all, for me, as a fan, it's all about winning and supporting my team. He doesn't care about either of those things, so I don't want him here. |
