Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
I HIGHLY doubt we offered him 5 million gaurnateed. Thats like what they'd offer me to be their #1 hot dog seller at FedEx feild. Unless I hear Dock tell me thats what they offered I think thats crap. I'm not saying its not possible we low balled him, but thats basically just cutting his balls off and then throwing them in the ocean.

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
NO WAY! Docks good. But he's not worth that kinda cash to the REDSKINS!
The Bills overpaid BIG...just like the COWGIRLS and the rest of the teams paying OL/G that haven't even made a pro bowl appearance! However, they set the stage for middle of the road players, to get way to much cash. However, whatever the market will bear....I guess that's what your worth???? GLAD WE DIDN'T PAY HIM THAT KINDA COIN!

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
While I am pretty dubious of the numbers stated I don't care either way. We weren't going to pay him what he got, or even close, so what does it matter?

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
he wasn't going to accept any kind of reasonable deal during the season anyways, so it's not like we could have kept him for much less (which would still be WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much). moot point.

Redskins Introduce Fletcher, Land Smoot - washingtonpost.com
"The Redskins offered Dockery roughly three years for $12 million, according to a team source, far beneath what he commanded on the open market." I think this may be a bit misleading. This may have been an offer at some point, but it wasn't their most recent offer

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
On reflection there's no way their final real offer was 12 for 3.
First: 12 for 3 is too low even by old standards. Second: There's no way we offered a 3 year deal. We sign 56 year old LBs to 6 year deals for cap purposes.(exageration) I am guessing the 12 for 3 is a miscommunication. Third: Even when we "low-balled" players in the past it wasn't THAT bad. Fourth: If that was our best offer then Dock is a pretty gracious guy to not spit in the FO's face on the way out. Dock even sounded pretty magnanomous. A guy getting pool-cue skewered with a crap offer like 12 for 3 wouldn't do that even if he was the nicest guy in the world. It's totally unbelievable. |

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
Randy Thomas signed a deal that averaged $4M per year and gave him a $7M SB on a 7-year deal when he was considered one of the best guards in the league.

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
It doesn't matter Dock was looking for the big money the whole time, and although he played well for us I am glad we didn't sign him to a $49 million contract.

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
I got to admit, I am a little puzzled that we did not make an offer to Dock or any key free agent guard. What are we going to do to fill this hole? Just when the o-line finally played well together and looked like the old (dare I say) Hogs. It's disappointing.

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
Most overpayed is a bit rough. He's a young offensive guard that's shown improvement every year he's played. Of course there are some questions about him, and he got a massive contract, but the most overpayed in the league is a bit overboard.

Maybe,..........signifigantly overpayed? I'm damn happy the Skins chose NOT to follow that insanity.

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
Oh, don't get me wrong, Hog1. I'm glad we didn't pay that price as much as I wanted to keep Dock. I just don't think he's the most overpayed player in the league by a large stretch.

Re: Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million
here are a couple of thing that piss me off about this whole Dockery thing : 1) the "FRONT OFFICE" should have locked him up during last year, or in the offseason before he had a chance to even look at other teams offers. They knew he was a FA, but dragged ass during the season.
2) Now, Dockery is not worth 16 million upfront, but 3 yr 12 million is a bit of insult. This organization has a reputation of low balling players, Smoot, pierce, now Dockery. Kills me how you give 10million bonuses out like candy, but low ball people on your team. they just gave a 32 yr old LB 10 million up front, but can give Dock something that is fair. Now, what dock signed for is ending up to be less than what the other O-lineman are signing for. I can't believe they were intertaining the idea of signing Davis if they were not going to give Dockery that money. He ended up signing for more than Dockery. And I dont believe they weren't interested in signing him as the post would spin it today. BS! he wouldn't have been here, plus he said I have to decide on who I want to play for, so the contract offer was all ready there. 3) the O-line was our only bright spot on the team last year. Now we have to fill a hole, a big hole. Again, dock isn't worth the 16 up front, but dont you think if we had tried like crazy during the season last year, early last year, we could have gotten him signed before all this took place. I certainly do. They better work something out w/ Cooley and Taylor before they are in the same situation. I have a feeling Taylor will be the highest paid safety in NFL history and nothing less will keep him. we can thank our "front office" for what its going to cost us to keep him. remember Mr. Arch being made the highest safety in the league. do you think Rosenhouse didn't lick his chops when that deal was signed. |
