I think it's more of a question of drafting for need. The Dolphins have NO bigger need than at QB (at this time). They have no proven, healthy qb. They took a "potential" game breaker, against a position that handles the ball on every play.

Ok, well if you are gonna get nit-picky, I will clarify. I saw he has more potential and influence in making a team a superbowl contender than Ginn.

Miami thinks they have a chance to win now. If they draft Quinn they would be wasting a year or two. By that time the defense will have to be rebuilt. People can say all they want but why did Quinn drop? Because in the big games he played like shit. Against LSU he looked terrible. NFL teams got scared by that. It's not fair cause Brady Quinn was a great college QB. But so was Troy Smith and looked what happened to him? The guy from Boise State didn't even get drafted and he was a STUD.

At #9 he was clearly a reach and not the best way to spend that high of a pick in many people's opinion.

Who cares if he's injured right now? Well, he's going to miss out on mini-camps and possibly the start of training camp, that's certainly not going to help his early development and chemistry with the offense.

Regarding Culpepper he's coming off some serious knee issues which he had two surgeries on. I'd say that's enough cause for concern. The Dolphins must be concerned otherwise why are they interested in Green?

my take on Ginn. he could either be the second coming of Santana Moss( which is a good thing) or the second coming of Freddie Mitchell( not so good) he could have been picked up probably in round 2

I think drafting for need is not the way to go when you are in the top ten. Plus we are not at the Miami training complex everyday. The coaches see Culpepper everyday so they must have some type of confidence that he could be ready by Sept. Or they are waiting for Trent Green to get cut. Either way Miami didn't think Quinn was a top 10 player. Miami thought that Ginn was a better player and will be a better player. Don't get me wrong. Quinn could be a really good qb. But I don't understand how anyone can argue drafting Ginn I watched ALOT of OSU games the past two years. And Ginn was truly a great player. Both on teams and at WR. Again, all the guy did was get in the endzone against top college players. Miami looked at Ginn and I bet they thought of Devin Hester. W/out Hester does Chi. make it to the SB?

You know who drafted for need? Phil by reaching for Kolb. He was a real nice college player but they could have drafted MUCH better players than Kevin Kolb.

Ginn himself isn't positive he'll be ready for the start of camp.

Kiper had him listed as the 16th overall prospect and was shocked he was taken in the top 10. I don't think many draft analysts expected him to be taken that high.

I hope they have bigger plans for him than just a #3 WR. You don't use the #9 pick on a special teams/slot WR.

As for your thoughts on Culpepper and Green, those are two big if's right now.

If they are so focused on winning now as you say, why did they take Beck in the 2nd round?

I am assuming he will crack the starting line-up at some point. But almost all most rookie wr's need a year to adjust. But I think they are banking on Ginn making an impact on teams right away.

That's a pretty big if, my friend. Again, first round picks are almost always considered to be starters or get significant playing time right out of the gate.

Too many variables surrounding Ginn, in my opinion.

All rookie wr's take a year to adjust. Miami will be looking for an impact on teams right away. People always under estimate the value in special teams and field position.

As for Mel Kiper? I respect his opinion. But all Kiper had to do was turn on the tape of this guy and see him making plays all over the field. Plus did Mel Kiper judge him on special teams? Again, people seem to forget all about this when judging guys.
