Re: Rank our OLine among the 32 teams

If you're talking about our current line, I would say top 10, one could make an argument for top 15.

My reasoning for saying top 10 is for obvious reasons: You line up Portis he's a 1300 yd rusher; You line up Betts, he goes over a 1,000 yds too.

If you break down the line by position, one could say we're pretty solid at every position. But I just don't think you can have a losing record and at the same time claim an offensive line that's better than 10.

When healthy Samuels and Jansen are two of the best in the business. Ditto Randy Thomas. He's not only Pro-Bowl material, but is usually pretty durable.

Top 5 no doubt.

Last year they were the only line in the league to be in the top 7 in rushing yards and sacks allowed.

Atlanta, Jax, San Fran, and San Diego above us. I'll put KC and Pitt above us for the fact that they have been good for a relatively long time. So... 123456 7

I think I'm more inclined to lean toward your ranking, BSB. I would say maybe 8 or so. Again, my main contention is we didn't have a winning record.

But I don't have a problem with 7, or 5 for that matter.

I would think, although I'm not sure on this, that the biggest factor into how effective an offense is is how good it's line is. Unless you have unimpressive skill position players, and the Redskins certainly don't, I wouldn't rank a line above where I would rank their overall offense.

I'll disclose the theory I'm writing on later.

Very interesting way of looking at it. I like the way it sounds because I have always felt that both sides, offense and defense, starts at the line. I still feel the team builds on the line but i would look at it as a team is only as good as its o-line rather than an o-line is only as good as its team it is on.

I do agree that we don't have a bad offense outside of the o-line so it is not like our qb's wrs rbs, ect are pulling down our offense. However, it is interesting- i don't think one team i named in the top 7 is top 10 in overall offense. Very int-er-est-ing....hmmm

Moreover, I still feel the fact that we weren't top ten in offense is not to say we we didn't(w/ dockery) have a top ten o line. I think it brings up more questions about the functionality of our offense under Saunder more than anything else. Though it was just the first year of the system.

i am quoting myself.

For example, New orleans had a great offense but its o-line isn't that great. They are among the worst in yards per rush. But that negates the " an offense is only as good as its o=line" thing. Maybe the QB is by and large the most important thing on an offense

I agree, but I would also include the QB

Thats certainly the other significant part of offense. Quarterback varience is very, very great in this league.

Although the production of a QB is very dependant on that of the OL.

Yeah I think that although Campbells numbers weren't that great last year that it can't be blamed on our line rather his inexperience. I think we will get a much improved Campbell this year! Anyway, uhhhhh yeah #6

There is no way I would rank San Francisco's O-line ahead of ours.

Re: Rank our OLine among the 32 teams

I'm thinking we are in the top 5. I'm basing that on last years performance. One could say "well we lost Dockery", I never thought he was that great anyway. I'll bet that whoever is in the LG position they'll be at least on the same level if not better than Dockery. I'm thinking Wade will start off the season and I'm hoping Whitticker takes over later in the season so we can have some youth on the line.

With the lingering problem at LG I would say we are somewhere around 10-12.
This experiment with Wade is not going to work.
