Blache taking over wouldn't be too surprising, though I think he'd prefer not to stay. Not for any reason other than he's "getting too old for this shit" I think Jerry Gray and Danny Smith are likely to try to follow Williams out the door.

Vinny was actually on Comcast and said that the reason they went ahead and fired him yesterday was because they wanted to give him a chance to catch on someplace. I hate it when people just say to hell with it and tell a big fat lie. Next time just get in you car and drive home, Vinny.

I saw it too and almost laughed. What a crock. Why not tell the truth, i'd respect that more.

I like Blache, but something seems kind of fishy about that press release to me. It sounds like an interim move to act like the Redskins were prepared for Williams' departure.

Ahh...Russ Grimm. Now, we haven't heard yay or nay about him as of yet. At least nothing concrete. I wouldn't be upset with that move at all. Neither would Joe Gibbs.

I can't stand Synder!~
He has been the biggest F-up as an owner. Thank you Cerrato, without your promotion instead of demotion none of this would have been possible! They need to leave the Redskins.

Gregg Williams got screwed over by the Danny boy and his minnion Cerrato, they are not true Redskins, the are corrupt.

Leave the Skins Dan!

I say hire Mariucchi before Fassel, I'll be ok with that.

Re: Gregg Williams Is Gone

Well let's put things in perspective here. Al Saunders was gone regardless who the head coach was going to be. And, it seems like most everybody likes the move to get Jim Zorn. On the other side of the ball, we're promoting Greg Blache to DC. Hopefully that means continuity on the defensive side of the ball....where we were most consistent in the last four seasons. Not much needs to be fixed on that side of the ball, with the exception of the defensive line. So, I like the move to promote Blache even though I'm a bit surprised he's staying.

It might all point to Fassel at this point, but I don't mind having the coordinators and other coaches in place before the head coach. By that point, the HC can move in and start planning things for the next season. They can get to work right away.

Re: Gregg Williams Is Gone

Well, it apears as though some things are beginning to take shape. I hate to see Williams leave because his defense was without a doubt the best side of the ball. However, I was silently hoping that Jerry Gray would be considered for the DC position, and that Danny Smith would be retained.

Re: Gregg Williams Is Gone

For those of you that mention "continuity" we've had very little of that the past several years with the exception of Joe Gibbs as HC. This latest move by the brain-trust at Redskins park is nothing if not a slap in the face to a man that did so much for this team and it disgusts me to no end. In addition, there are reports that leaked about Williams alledged "disrespectfulness" toward Gibbs. Give me a freakin' break. Sounds like spin control from The Danny and his boys. Unbelievable, but not really I guess. It's getting harder and harder to support this organization (except the players).

It should also be said that GW is playing the game and using his agent to pressure the skins into making a decision. A very common move in the negotiations process.

Micro-managing, turnover, and misinformation. Mr. Snyder is beginning to remind me of Al Davis.

Re: Gregg Williams Is Gone

Looking at the results objectively, Gregg Williams was clearly the best Redskins coach of Gibbs 2.0. I just want to say thanks to Gregg for bringing respectability back to our defense, and good luck wherever you end up. I'll always be a fan of the way you run a D.
