Pour out the haterade fellas and admit that Eli did the right thing in the draft! He looks great ESPECIALLY for having a weak line, being a rookie, and going up against one of the best pass rushes in the league. He's not playing against backups, he's playing real ball. Let's check stats:
Here are our stats vs the same team who didn't play their starters for as long and we have a much better offensive line: M. Brunell 6/15 119 1 1 T. Hasselbeck 6/15 65 0 2 P. Ramsey 4/11 62 0 1 Now here are Eli's stats for the first half against all starters: E. Manning 9/15 117 0 0 He's a rookie, he'll make mistakes, and Toomer has helped A LOT. However, this kid is really showing up to play, give him some credit. |

Eli looked pretty sharp. His passes were crisp, he had some zip on them, and he made the plays without good line play; so I say more power to him.

the giants defense didtn have any starting linebackers in, which partically explains how bad they looked. eli looked good for his first start though. They arent going to make a run this year but have their QB of the future.
Its nice being able to see that our startign d stopped the pathers first string, but the giants didnt, heh.

gives you hope, by comparision our D and our O-line look like studs... though comparisions to the giants don't really mean much

Manning is the real deal fellas. Let's give some credit where credit is due.
He's going to be starting sooner rather than later this year. I really like his arm and his poise especially for a rookie. The only problem is that sive of an offensive line he has. |

The Panthers look great & Delhomme is going to the Pro Bowl this year for sure
![]() The Skins with Portis should be able to run all over the Giants. After the D-line it's pretty inexperienced to the goal line. Go Skins!

Eli Manning really surprised me. For a rookie playing against the starting defense of the Super Bowl Runner ups, he looked very good (for a rookie).
I don't like to jinx our team by saying we wiil be able to run against the Giants because the superbowl runner up team can. I think that is a stretch. Team comparisons like we had a close game against Panthers and the Giants did not, so we will beat the Giants, does not work work in todays NFL. Anybody can beat anybody in todays NFL. The Panthers have a balanced offense. We do not YET. I have no doubts Joe Gibbs will turn our offense into one of the best, but WHEN is the issue. It took Gibbs until game 5 in 1981 to get them going. We should not assume our offense will be at its peak by game 1 of this regular season. |
