Umm. Do you remember the strike year? Okay then..He may have had some good players. But Gibbs was known to make his players better. His players didn't make him. He put them in positions where they could succeed. I guess no other players in the NFL during that era on other teams wanted to win either.. We have talented players now. Are we winning? Are you a Gibbs hater? One of those people not thankful for him bringing us 3 superbowls just because his second coming fell short. If so I dont repsect you as a Redskins fan. Maybe you should cheer for the Lions since you are in Detroit. This isn't about all the players. The title is Redskins QB's. The ones under Gibbs weren't that great. They were good. Gibbs is in the hall of fame. Besides Theisman. The rest were good but not great (under Gibbs). But they maintained the game and played hard. Occasionally having great games. Which is no knock on them at all. But to say it was all about the players and not Gibbs is suspect

Re: RedSkins QB's
Man, I've never seen such vitriol at someone who posts videos of the Redskins glory days.
I enjoyed it. |

Theismann did not have a decent NFL season until he was 30, did not complete 60% of his passes until the strike-shortened '82 season and did not have a great NFL season until his age 34 season. Jurgensen is the only Hall of Famer and he did not come to the team until his age 30 season. Williams never completed more than 57% of his passes in any year of his career and never started more than 10 games in a season for the Redskins. He played a great game in the Super Bowl, but he was far from a great NFL quarterback. In '86 when Jay Schroeder threw for 4,000 yards he only completed 51% of his passes and threw 22 interceptions to match his 22 touchdowns. Brad Johnson was 31 when he threw for 4,000 yards in 1999. Even in his magical '91 season Mark Rypien (at age 29) only completed 59% of his passes and never completed over 60% of his passes at any time in his NFL career. The bottom line is that the Redskins have had some good teams, but there is not a rich quarterback tradition in D.C. Whether or not Jason Campbell proves himself as a long-term solution in Washington he is actually the most accomplished QB at the youngest age that the team has had since Sammy Baugh. So I guess we have been waiting for a home-grown franchise quarterback since 1952. What is another 15 games to see what we've got in Campbell ; )
