Re: Another way to look at it...
That's the true reality of the situation at this point in time. Anything less is just another exercise in futility and pointless speculation.

That's what I was saying.

Re: Another way to look at it...
They're so many areas that need to be addressed, especially on the O line. We're going to have to look at the FA market in addition to the draft. The major problem with the FO (and we all know this) is that they scout FA names rather than talent. Our next FA pick ups have to be young up and coming players. I would be shocked if the Redskins FO actually scouted though. We'll probably end up with Brandon Marshall or worse, T.O.!

The keepers: Offense- RB-Mason, Alridge. Pick up 1 more in FA or Draft. maybe a FB for power. FB-Eddie Williams. Pick up in FA or Draft. TE-Cooley, Davis. WR-Kelly, Thomas, Mitchell. OL-W.Montgomery, Rinehart and R.Williams I would make Guards. E.Williams I would keep at center for developement. I'd draft a LT and a RT and bring in a bunch of UFA's. QB-See if Colt fits whatever scheme we are running if not cut. See what Woodson has to offer. Cut Collins. Most likely JC is pissed at how he has been handled this last yr so I imagine he's going elsewhere, plus I doubt he would take a pay cut and be a back up. Defense- S-Doughty, Horton, Landry, Moore, Holmes. CB-Hall, Barnes, Tryon, Westbrook. Rogers most likely will think he's a #1 shut down corner and will want more money, but needs to be a nickle(he's a carbon copy of Smoot). Pick up another shut down CB either FA or Draft. cut the rest. LB-Blades, Henson, McIntosh, Bowen. Cut the rest and bring in UFA's. DE-Jarmon, Orakpo, Wilson, Jackson, Skolnitsky. Look for a couple of UFA's. DT-Alexander, Golston, Haynesworth. pick up a couple in FA or Draft. My plan is based off of shedding the dead wood and bringing in younger faster healthier players. There would be a lot of spots to fill but trying to get a bunch of young guys to build cohesiveness in the trenches and play like a team for yrs to come. |

I don't think there will be a single free agent next year under the age of 28. I think at this point, free agent implies veteran.
It's the 5th year guys who are hella expensive anyway.

Re: Another way to look at it...
I like the assertion that Rogers = Smoot. Next week, DeAngelo Hall/Mark Carrier comparisons!

We're moving Hall to safety? Or do you mean that his career dies here.. or what? I'm out of it right now

Re: Another way to look at it...
How about this way of looking at it:
Things won't get better until the Redskins have at least two solid drafts and build depth on both offensive and defensive lines. Let's accept that it would be preferable to unload as many high-salary players as possible now, load up on draft picks, and endure a couple of 4-12 seasons, rather than attempt another round of free-agent pickups in an effort to patch the unpatchable. Of course, Danny is incapable of keeping his incompetent hands off draft and trade decisions, so draft-based growth is just a pipe dream. |

What does the d-line need?
Load up on OL, the d-line is fine. |
